We Do Not Need Anymore Skill Position Players

I agree for the most part, but HOF totals vary wildly.

Don't you think the fact that the Pats run a turnstyle at certain positions may hurt him and other Patriots ?

Contextually I agree with your view...but for the HOF, there isn't an identifying on how those stats were arrived at. Only how totals compare to standards already admitted and on their totals.

That is not always true. Several Commanders and Cowboys deserve to be in the HOF based on the games expectations at the time. The stats at that time were great. 1000 yard season for a WR or RB is still considered very good, but back then it was great.

Roger Craig is not in the HOF and at the time was one of the best in the game at the time. Stuff like this does not make sense.

I often wonder if some of you get football. Not just Cowboys fans but fans in general.

Not disputing what Hostile was stating... because everyone knows the Cowboys need some secondary help, perhaps even better coaching for that position.

But if your front 7 are are on a 1-10 scale of 7 overall, you are a very good defensive team. At a 5 still good. You get an 8 overall and your defense is typically amazing.

You do not need 10's at every position. It has never happened for any team. I would put the Cowboys front 7 between a 6-7.

As a team, they have to compliment each other. The Patriots and Giants have done this for a while.

Bet, let's give it a quick referal and look:

Ratliff 7
Hatcher 6
Coleman 5
Ware 9
Spencer 6
__________
Ave. 6.6

If I see one more thread about the Boys needed to get or draft a skill position player I am gonna lose my mind!!!!!!

Listen people we have a great 1-2 combo at running back with Murray and Jones, 3 very good recievers Austin, Dez, and Rob, and a great tight end in Witten. Other than maybe Green Bay no one has better skill position players than us. The problem is our offensive line sucks which is why our offense hasn't reached our potential.

I have been waiting for the day when we are able to spend our first round picks on offensive lineman!

Harvey Martin, Ed Too Tall Jones, Charles Haley, Chuck Howley....bias?

Alright, you get true confession. I always thought Art Monk deserved it if only for being a Cowboy killer....understood, but Craig had a totals question for career didn't he?

Duane Thomas had enormous potential, and got booted from both Dallas and Washington. But that was only to indicate an aspect of longevity as well.

I agree. We need to build the offensive and defensive lines.

This all day. The story of the year to me this season was two fold. No interior push by the Oline so the run game suffered and Tony had no pocket to slide up into. No interior push from the Dline taking away the pocket and limiting the run game for our opponents.

Slogan for next season: Restore the Trenches...Restore the Rings.

Do we need secondary help? Obviously. Could we add depth at the skill positions? Sure but not entirely necessary. If you restore the trenches you restore a legit chance at winning rings again.

I agree with those guys being in for the times and expectations. They deserve it. Monk at the time he retired was at the very top of within several categories. Same as I think Mark Moseley deserves a spot before any of these other modern kickers. But plenty of guys from both teams either way.

Craig was the first and one of maybe 2-3 RBs to ever have 1000 yards rushing and receiving. Based on that alone let him in, 4 probowls, 3 rings. He gets slighted because of Rice and Montana.

I don't know how to break this to you, but it sure appears that you already have...

:D

We don't need any skill position players right now, but we shouldn't ignore those positions if we find great value in the draft.

We didn't need DeMarco Murray in that 3rd round. Certainly not as much as we needed help at other positions, but you take the BPA.

Like the OP I consider skill positions Offensive as RB, QB, WR, TE.

DBs are more frankly physical positions; speed and quickness and the like are more important that skill

QB RB TE WR we have seen more top players with marginal physical gifts then you see DBs with marginal physical gifts

I agree that this draft must be about OL, DB and LB or DE depending on what we do with Spencer

Laurent Robinson should be the first player resigned. Along with the veterans the team wishes to retain. But new players added, with 2-3 in free agency and the top two rounds of the draft, could well be where it will comply with what the team really needs the most. And a really tough interior offensive line would change game dynamics in favor of the Cowboys.

:hammer:

Right. The only premier position you can argue that they need a serious upgrade is at CB.

Draft CB high.....sign FS Michael Griffin....and your good to go.

I agree, but what if a team with WR issues, and a lot of room under the cap, offers him 6-7 million a year? Do you match that? You may think it crazy that some team would offer him that much, but it happens every year.

Yep but that is probably what you'll get on draft day.

Then you are getting set up for another team going through hill billy economic lessons. Robinson was really given his chance by Dallas, when he was little more than exiting the NFL. I think Dallas gets some home town appreciation from that kid, despite an Agent.

if they resign robinson and add at least one CB in FA I wouldn't cry if every damn pick was linemen or linebackers. We need huge upgrades all over there.
