We don't control our destiny in getting the 2 seed

Regardless if we beat the Commanders or not, getting the two seed is only dependent on Arizona & Seattle losing next week. The only sennerio where Dallas winning gets us the two seed is if Detriot & Green bay tie. Which would actually give us the #1 seed, regardless of what happens in seattle & arizona's games, but in that senerio we HAVE to beat Washington.

Wonder what the odds are of that ending in a tie.
Thing is, that game is after we play. I would play all out in the 1st half, then rest the starters in the 2nd. Just play we will be 3rd seed.

(Ignoring a tie), the only way we can get a bye is if Seattle loses to the Rams and Arizona loses to the 49ers...............our game with the Skins is totally meaningless, we can win by 50 or lose by 50 and it doesn't matter at all. Unfortunately, I don't see the Seahawks losing at home to the Rams so I think we are going to be the #3 seed regardless.

The real kick in the nuts is that losing to Colt McCoy costed us homefield advantage this year.

If we approach it in a similar manner to how the boys approached the 1992 finale vs Chicago, when we were locked into the 2 seed, we play the starters a half and then let the reserves take over after we go up early.

The only thing a win does is put us as the 1 seed instead of the 2 seed if both Ari and Sea lose.

We lost to McCoy, Kaep, Whoever was QBing the Cards and Sanchez. None of those QBs puts the fear in you. Why does everyone keep crying about the Skins game? Division opponents normally beat each other up. We lost 4 games. Truth be told all 4 were winnable. We lost for many reasons, mainly the health of Romo. If you want to be pissed, be pissed that all our losses were conference games. That's where we went wrong.

I am pretty confident the Cardinals lose. They simply cannot score with Lindley playing. Unless Stanton comes back, that is half the equation.

The rest falls on the Rams to pull the upset and that is possible.

I guess I really don't see how we are third seed after Seattle beat Arizona. We beat Seattle and should hold the tie breaker.

The advantage of having the wild-card bye doesn't seem to be what it used to be anymore. Look at the Giants when they made their runs.

Bottom line, the team seems hot. Just win each game you play and the rest will take care of itself in February.

Add in the Ravens and Packers as well. It is just as much about momentum as an advantage, especially if weather or the crowd environment does not make a difference.

About the only recent champions that benefitted from the seeding were the Seahawks and Saints.

Confused as well. If we and seattle win, we should have a tiebreaker over them? Perhaps we, seattle, lion/pack would end up with a three-way and we lose the NFC conference record?

But we can really use the time to give our injured players some rest ... Free, Romo, Murray, et al.

That's exactly it. One of the Lions or Packers will be 12-4 along with Dallas and Seattle if both win and we'd lose the 3-way tiebreaker. If Seattle loses, then there's only 2 12-4 teams and we get the #2 seed on the conference record tiebreak with GB/Det. Even if we lose, we would be tied with Seattle at 11-5 and get the #2 seed over them due to our head to head win.

And because of this, I'd treat this game like a preseason game and make this our bye week.

Unfortunately, head to head doesn't come into play in a three way tiebreaker unless all three teams played each other and one of the three beat the other two. We didn't play Detroit or Green Bay.

All true, but Arizona would have to lose as well for us to move into one of the top two seeds,

True. I'm kind of assuming they will with a 3rd string QB, but SF has been struggling as well.

I'd take Green Bay or the Lions at home I don't want the Packers away
