We don't give Jerry enough credit, watching Norv tonight was all it took.

Wade Phillips will take the talent Bill/Ireland and Wade himself gave Dallas on "D" to the next level. mark it down! The thing that hit home was that the back up QB that was here during that time is an (Ive league) mind that will take the offense back to the timing based smart back system that Norv would have employed anyway. So, Jerry killed two birds with one stone if you will. The only risk was can Garrett get it done? The jury is still out, but if the first preseason game is the first look at what's to come :D this is a risk that could pay off Big!!!!!thoughts!?

Personally, I think Jerry should hire a GM and stay out the way, but that's a different story.

Aside from this, I think he's done a very good job with the organization since the painful Campo years. And yes, I have alot of confidence in Garrett.

BTW-I think the Chargers will fly out to the gate, then fade at the end-why they really wanted Norv is mystifying.

Not really. It was for continuance of scheme. Same reason they hired Cottrell.

Yep. He'll make Rivers better as well.

Ive League?? I'm on your side because you bleed blue, so remember this, it's Ivy League. Proper spelling is paramount, especially if you're referring to academic institutions. Just a pointer.

And I too, think Garrett has a great future, he could take over the coaching reins down the line. Good analysis.

Maybe, Mr.Rivers wasn't asked to do too much last year, not that he isn't good, certainly I don't think he is Heath Shuler. Turner couldn't save ol' Heath, Rivers will probably be a decent QB for many years to come but man o' man will he ever be Drew Brees? Chargers fans will have to wait and see.

Maybe it was b/c of a lack of inexperience, but Rivers had alot of trouble handling the blitz last year.(even KC, that doesn't blitz well, held him to a 12.4 rating) First year starting, but he WAS in his third year, nonetheless.

If the Cowboys do well, we will lose Sparano to an offensive coordinator position somewhere else in the offseason. Garrett gets one year to lean on him and then he'll be gone. We'll see how it goes.

Nobody thought Drew Brees would be Drew Brees after his first couple of seasons.

Rivers is a VERY good QB and will end up being one of the top QBs in the league before long. Of course, having LT and Gates will help that happen just like it does for every top QB. 22 TDs and only 9 INTs was pretty good for his first season as the starter.

Sparano is the Assistant Head Coach, so the Cowboys would not be forced to release him for anything less than HC position.

it was a preseason game dude...not sure how you can make a judgement of Norv based on a preseason game where he sat some key guys or hardly played others

I was glad we hired Wade but to be fair it is still only pre-season and I'll let the season play out before I judge the job Turner does in SD.

It was not what Norv did tonight. It Was the flashback that took me back to Ernie Z/Norv/Garrett days. The better question now is who will make the better Troy Aikman? Rivers or Romo?

What I was trying to say was:D Jerry got one of the best "D" men in the game and then he took a shot at a smarter, younger Norv. Garrett will take that same philosophy and make it better. Hell, it worked great in the early 90's. But it also could just be Jerry just trying to cheat time.lol!

My main thought is that if the Chargers had fired Marty sooner we'd either have Marty or Norv as our HC instead of Wade and our players wouldn't be as positive. For that alone I am grateful we got Wade.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, Jerry did the most thorough job of searching for a new Head Coach of anyone out there.

there isnt going to be another Aikman...he was eons more talented than either of these guys...thye may post good numbers, but from a pure passing talent niether is close

Actually not true I was one that was saying fans where under estimating Brees his 1st year as a starter was solid and even the struggles as a 2nd year starter was not that bad. Typical fans think everyone has to be a SB looking QB day one. He rode the bench the 1st year and was showing progress funny how the kid was still learning the position and had a year and a half of starts. So he played really really well his 4th year. The only concern I had about Brees was his shoulder because of the injury if that was healthy I was not surprised he had a good year last year.

What happen is over reaction by the front office and Charger fans

I love Jason Garret as a offensive coordinator but how your ready to jump to a conclusion like this is beyond me.

Some of you are a little to giddy over a good pre-season showing.

Personally I hope Denver kicks our butts this week. We need to get our butts kicked this preseason.

Im not ready to give anyone any credit for any of these hires until games start to count and we win some real games.

Like i've said a million times. Raiders 4-0 last year preseason.... Colts 0 - 4.
