We don't have a running problem

I don't understand how it's being reported that we have problems running the football. We have a problem "committing" to running the ball. Life we be so much easier for this club if we had more balance between run and pass. RUN THE BALL RED!

i can't remember the last time we broke one for 30+ on the ground.

Our running is ineffective because of blocking, scheme, runners and it's hard to commit to something that isn't working, either way it's a problem.

I was all for a more balanced attack until demarco was injured. Running scrub RB for 2-3 yards a carry only hurts your team. Instead of running the football do some screens and passes into the flat. Utilize the weapons we know what work Dez, Witten, Williams, Beasley.

If you watched them attempting to run you would understand that's the problem.

Let me put it in simple terms for you OP, I want commit to my wife, but she doesn't exist, and I have a healthy balance between fantasy and reality.

we have an injury problem. our starting running back keeps missing time due to injuries. back-ups are not nearly as good.

Joseph Randle has a 2.5 yard per carry average
Phillip Tanner is averaging a pathetic 1.3 YPC

For comparison Murray was averaging a very good 4.7 before he went down to injury.

You really want the ball in the hands of Randle and Tanner? I don't, I think they stink.

No.... we have a problem running the football.. We have a running back thats made of glass, another running back that small but not quick or fast or elusive, another one who fumbles, and online with mackenzy bernadeau starting next week....

Yea we have a running problem...

When that brings a Super Bowl trophy to Dallas, let me know. Until then, I think I agree with the OP. We need to get better in this phase of the game.

We have a scheme problem and a lack of screen problem. Any runner can run well if the offensive coach uses his plays to help the runners strengths, not asking the runner to do what the offense can give him. We need someone to stop listening to Garrett and say "this is what we have, how do we make it work?"

This team would run better if the coaches and players stopped listening to Garrett. OR just do the opposite. If we win and he asks, shrug and say "should we give the win back?"

This post makes less sense than mine. No mean feat.

the team needs to stop looking at these 6'0, long lean running backs. get a 5'9,-5'11 short but stocky running back in the mold of ray rice or marshawn lynch.

Just say it. You want a running back that looks like Emmitt. LOL.

We've been fairly consistent attempting to run the ball on early downs. We're ineffective at it, though, especially with Murray out, and it's contributing to our 3rd down conversion problems. We need to be getting a new set of downs on 2nd downs, where we can, and to be in more 3rd-and-managables where we can take advantage of Beasley and the TEs keep the chains moving. More 'commitment' to ineffective running is just going to hurt us.

But that's what is so sad. What does 2nd and 5 or 3rd and 2 mean to this team? It means we have to throw the ball, just like we would have to at any other distance. Does anyone actually think when we line up in a 3rd and 2, we'd actually convert running the ball? I agree with you, there is no point "committing" to a running game that simply doesn't work. At the same time, no running game means no success, especially in the red zone. There is such an utter lack of a running threat (without Murray) it can make what should be a top-five passing offense look completely inept.
