We escaped 0-2, barely

I understand but after the fact we were already 0-1 we came close to being 0-2. 1-1 is tasting pretty good this morning. Pretty pretty pretty good.
It is
2-0 would be even better
The important part is we was in both games till the end
That means you have a chance and that’s really key against good teams

I mean, only if you think all the opponents are equal to the first two.

I was being a little facetious but I would say most of us after the first 2 would still say we are a 8-9 or 9-8 team. We don't do the little things well enough and we will beat ourselves in some games that we should win IMO.

This is a 50% league. 1-1 is par for the course. Escape a couple of close games with Ws and you tilt the balance and make the playoffs. Law of averages says you’ll be on the short end eventually and get back to 50%.

Good point!

We aren’t sure how good LA is yet but most likely that are a potential playoff team. We’ll see. That AFC West looking tough.

It is what it is. You couldn’t have found a more upbeat fan for most of our first 35 years. But the last quarter century has taken a toll on me.
I've been reading your posts since back on the old site and you just seem to be miserable. Do you cheer when we make a play? Do you get excited? Or do you shake your head and say, damn, that interception we just had.....we got lucky. We score a td and you stand up and declare, well, that should have been holding on Tyrone, and if the refs had called it, we would have lost. Then as you shut the TV off qt the end of the game, you throw 3 darts into the Jerry Jones picture hanging above your toilet?

Honestly after especially our 1st game I think we might be better than I thought. And as I watched this game unfold felt we were headed to 0-2.

But the mark of a good team is pulling some of these out where it’s not your best performance.

We’ll see how we go from here. But I’m very encouraged we didn’t need 30+ points to win.

That's certainly an opinion. Stubbornly clinging to preconceived notions in the face of contrary evidence is pretty common here, but it doesn't make it any more logical. This was a tough stretch, on the road, against quality opponents, with a good number of impact players out. None of those factors will remain throughout. I fully understand the perspective. It's just nonsense built on cherry picked information.

I’m a skeptic this era no doubt. Not as emotionally attached as I used to be. A more apathetic approach. Like I’ve said over the years being a Baylor fan all of this time as well has prepared me for this down Cowboys era.

It’s a mentality that better prepares you for losing without all of the heartache. The last time this era I was truly as heartbroken as some of those championships losses in our glory years was 2014 in Green Bay.

Basically I expect to lose and hope to win. And how most fans of dormant or less successful schools or franchises are. You still enjoy a win especially over rivals but don’t build expectations or hopes up.

This is the only way I can continue following and stay somewhat invested without our lack of success and frustrating dysfunctional ownership causing me more anguish and despair. Otherwise with my heart condition I’d kill over yelling at the TV. Lol

Chargers didn't gift the Cowboys anything. The Cowboys won because they were the better team. Period.
No both teams played well, the D did it's job and the coaching was poor is a understatement. This game was a refs gift job to Dallas, imagine a NFL QB thinking they were good with a 56 yard FG try to win the game.with 27 seconds left on the clock poor all the way around. Happy with the win it was a good game unfortunately the O disappeared in the second half hopefully that will change.

Just as easy as you can say we escaped 0-2 we could have been 2-0 just saying its football breaks go different ways sometimes

This sums up the NFL in general. Most games come down to the final 5min. A play here or there, a call here or there decides games. This isn't college or high school. Blowouts from start to finish don't happen as often. Win and move on. We could easily be 2-0 as easily as 0-2. KC could easily be 0-2. Ravens could easily be 2-0. It's how it goes. You can't stress too much over close losses and you can't nitpick at close wins.

We pretty much outplayed both teams so far. Really, I think we played better against TB, especially on offense. But Herbert made more mistakes than Brady did, especially when it counted and that was it. And we got the ball last yesterday where TB got the ball last the first game.

I think pre-looking at the schedule to determine where our tough stretches are is "Stubbornly clinging to preconceived notions in the face of contrary evidence". A few weeks ago Carolina looked a lot less formidable than they do today.

If you've watched the first two games and are maintaining your preseason prediction of 8-9 wins I don't know what to tell you other than that maybe football is not the sport for you

Not that simple, 2 different defense with 2 different schemes. I think most of us knew that Chargers run defense could be exploited and Dallas did that. vs Tampa yes we lost vs the SB champs at their house and it took a last second FG for Tampa to win. Moore showed he could call 2 different styles of offense to take advantage of the opponents weakness and I hope he continues to that.
Not true,
You don't let opposing teams dictate what you do.
The Cowboys are at their best when running the ball.
Emmitt Smith ran the ball 20-30 times a game regardless of how great the opposing teams defensive front 7 was.
Eventually even the best defenses get worn down.

Back to back on the road sucks, what other teams started out that way?
