We escaped 0-2, barely

100% .....play advantage matchups. MM said earlier in the week Zeke and Pollard would have chances aginst the Chargers D ( playing two-deep safeties ).
I raise my glass to toast a balanced attack! Now defenses have to contend with too many weapons and options.

It all is part of the evaluation. I’m not sure all fans have the ability to separate their emotions .

I’m not discounting how big and important this win is. We are all enjoying.

But if you are in the film room breaking it down after the fact you must weigh in all of the events and how it shaped the results.

Another guy who thinks watching YouTube plays is the same as being in the film room.

Greg Zuerlin’s 56 yard field goal as time expired stamped out the forbidden start to the season we had feared. It also stamped out the horrid game clock Mgmt in final sequence in drive as Prescott led a 49 yard to set up the kick.

Chargers gifted us a turnover on horrid pass in the end zone and penalties thwarted scoring opportunities on 2 TD’s called back providing an opportunity for final winning drive .

Throughout a season you need games you probably shouldn’t have won. But we did just enough and took advantage . But the final kick bailed out an otherwise game heading to a loss.

We’ll take it. Avoiding 0-2 is huge. We hadn’t started 0-2 since 2010. Now we come home to 3 straight under our own roof and will be favored in all with only one( Panthers) with a winning record.

An 0-2 record would have presented many challenging issues and concerns moving forward. Now we can be more optimistic looking to be 5-1 or 4-2 at the bye instead of struggling to reach .500.

agree.

It was close.

0-2 starts usually end with teams watching the playoffs from home.

Yes, Dallas could be 0-2 or 2-0 depending on kickers or penalties. But we played what I consider two good teams at their house and ended up 1-1. At no point were we out of these games. We're looking good against good teams. That's a positive.
Yup. We are good. Now, other teams have to circle their calendar as a tough game instead of looking past us. Better on both sides of the ball. Kicking game is showing promise. Glad to see Zuerline came through in the clutch.

IDK. I was influenced that we won a tough game on the road as underdogs in a game that wasn’t going our way down the stretch without the Chargers turnovers and penalties . I wasn’t sure we had that ability. This team might be better than I thought.

First time we’ve won a game in like 3 seasons without needing 30+ points. If we can continue winning the turnover differential this team could have more success and go further than I thought possible.
Averaging 2 picks a game ain't too shabby.

We could also say we barely missed being 2-0
Was gonna come in and say the same thing......this is the NFL. The Ravens "escaped" being 0-2 last night.

People think like every game is 40-20 assaults and if its not then you "escaped". What it came down to is the Cowboys didn't turn the ball over or beat themselves up as much as the Chargers.

This game proves what a lot of us has been saying all along is exactly right.

Focus on the run game = Win

Throw the ball 45 times = Loss

Hopefully this is an eye opener for the coaches going forward. Dak doesn't have to play great if you have a good game plan with the run game.

It's one game.. If Zeurlein hits a chipshot FG and an extra point against Tampa the Cowboys likely win a game throwing it 58 times.. And if San Diego could get a TD without doing illegal crap they lose this last game. Meaning the number of pass attempts don't mean diddly. The games play out how they play out.. You know I love the run more than I do the pass and I think it's how we win games.. But there are going to be times when we need to sling it 50 to have a chance.. It is what it is.. As long as we win I don't care.

......not according to Skip Bayless, this morning.
Shannon playing the heavy. Usual format these days - point/counterpoint. But it illustrates what most people say one way or the other.

Two thing about this game.

One, it was a win and while aided by the Chargers mistakes, still a win.

Two, this game did nothing to change the minds of those that think this is a good team and those that think it isn't.
Perception = reality.

EXACTLY.

Run it as many times against TB as we did LAC, chances are not only do we STILL lose the game, but we probably get blown out, and with a pretty good shot of being shutout.

Attack the weaknesses of the defense you play that week. That is all I ask.

We also barely could've been 2-0 bro

Yep. That would have been the top story today if Zuerlein didn’t bail us out. Assuming we wouldn’t have won in OT.

I'm super happy to see Zuerlein rebound and have such a better game. I have a soft spot in my heart for kickers. It's possible for a kicker to get a mental block and just start shanking a bunch of kicks. I think that's what happened to Vanderjagt when we had him. He had been an awesome kicker for Indy, but when we had him he looked worse than some high school kickers. I think either the doubting Thomas worries haunted him or maybe some injury threw all his mechanics out of whack. After the first game, I was worried we would see something like that with Zuerlein. But hopefully he's back to true form and will be reliable for the team.

Not to mention all of the key injuries/bogus suspensions the team has had to deal with. Our opening schedule could’ve only been tougher if we had opened with both the Bucs and Chiefs on the road. We’ve gotten two of our tougher road games out of the way right off the bat and were in a position to win both. I’ll take it.

ehhhh. this game wasn't won by the run game. in fact, it was nearly lost by the run game on the final play lol. i think we all agree that it should be a more balanced attack though.

Seven games were decided by 3 points or less in week two. It's the NFL - lots of "barely" going on out there.

You got it. It is about exploiting defense where you see venerability. Chargers continue to keep the 2 high look and playing backers off the line and the Cowboys have the talent to exploit that and Moore took advantage of it. What is stupid is trying to attack a defense that their strength
Nope these guys wanted Dallas to run Zeke into a wall over and over against Tampa and score 10 points so it can't be said Dak had a good game. Then they can complain about Dak not winning the game
