I haven't looked at the numbers, but it appeared that we got into a bad pattern against the Giants.

It was often:

1st down: Run

2nd down: Pass (if first-down run gained 3 or fewer yards)

3rd-and-long: Pass

We didn't hit the Giants in the mouth with our running game to set up our passing game. Linehan and Garrett abandoned our identity and chose to do it in an environment that made passing more difficult.

I think it was intentional, Gimme. I believe the Cowboys spent their extended break game planing the next three games, not just the Giants. I believe they went to NY with a vanilla gameplan but could not execute (without penalties) nor avoid turnovers. I believe if the game had been a do-or-die situation, Linehan would have had a better gameplan.

I thought that was pretty much the playcalling throughout the game until we were behind and had to score points.

What we got away from was keeping the pace a bit more up tempo. We are not a fast paced offense, but we have been more up tempo. Instead, we fell into the trap of slowing the pace down to a snail's crawl and allowing the Giants defense to make their pre-snap adjustments, disguise their blitzes and coverages.

I think Zeke only had 8 second half carries. That's unacceptable. He was out only offensive bright spot and we took him off the field for Lance Dunbar. Zeke expressed his opinions to Garrett a few times, which he should have. You gotta dance with the one that brought you.

Hard for any running back to get traction when a defense is zeroing in on him on every play. Containing Dak in the pocket is what's killing us. The beauty of having a rookie QB that's great, is that he's awesome until people get a gameplan on him. I don't expect him to play great for the rest of the year, and I REALLY like the guy. I'm all for putting Romo in if Dak can't bring the O back to life this week. He HAS to learn how to be comfortable throwing flat footed from the pocket.

I know the guy needs a rest coming up soon but I love the idea that on like one drive a game they go no huddle and absolutely smash zeke into the teeth of the defense until they stop it. I'm talking 8 straight g darn carries until he taps out then sprint McFadden in the game and keep going.

Absolutely. I'd love that.

But for the past couple weeks we've had a tendency to get away from the running game no matter if we were successful or not. Washington game: First drive we absolutely run it down their throats and hit them in the mouth. The next drive we go to the passing game. Same with last week. There might be a few series in which we don't move the ball very well, but if we keep pounding it and allow Zeke and the line to get in a rhythm, we'll be successful. The defensive line will start to wear down with each attempt. We don't have that same philosophy that we had for the first half of 2014. I want it back.

This is the way we used to run things around here. This is more alarming than Dak. Get back to the running game. It's what got us that 11 game winning streak.

We played back to back good defenses on the road. That's what you forgot.

The other stuff is nonsense. We play at a different speed at home.

Zeke ran the ball 24 times in this game, I don't think Dallas forgot anything. Dallas must execute and they didn't.

I know he did it at Ohio State. He needs to keep that fire in Dallas.

It seem to me that once the Cowboys got comfortable with Dak passing, they let up on the running game and allowed him to pass more.
There have been more than a few times where I've said, "Why are we passing?"
And why bring in Alfred Morris if we're not going to use him? They're taking Zeke out and giving him a significant breather, but we're bringing in Dunbar instead. Why not Morris? Why not run the ball more?

I just don't get it.

That interception where Dez fell down should have been a running play. Don't understand it. It's a slick field and they have Dak passing all over the place.

And the field didn't affect just the Cowboys but the Giants too. I can understand the conservative game plan. It would have worked if we simply kept running the ball and wearing down the Giants' defense. I don't understand why we continued to try to throw the ball, especially when we have capable backs on the roster.

True. Did not like taking Zeke out on 3rd downs and bringing in Dunbar. Zeke can run great screens or passes in the flat and still leaves the option to run on the table. Plus he can block if necessary. When Dallas brings Dunbar it is almost always a pass to him coming up-----too predictable. Dunbar has become a waste of a roster spot at this point, one trick pony and Zeke does it better. As for kickoffs, I would just as well start at the 25 every time. Too often Dunbar runs it and does not even make the 20, and then after we get penalized for the obligatory block in the back----get set back inside the 10 yard line. The play calling (offensive game plan) was questionable.

During the game Sunday, when Dunbar ran it out of the endzone, I said to my wife, "this is stupid." and it was. behind late in the game, don't try to be a hero, take it on the 25. The odds are against a long return, especially from someone who has never had a long return.
