I think it was intentional, Gimme. I believe the Cowboys spent their extended break game planing the next three games, not just the Giants. I believe they went to NY with a vanilla gameplan but could not execute (without penalties) nor avoid turnovers. I believe if the game had been a do-or-die situation, Linehan would have had a better gameplan.

I can see that, knowing there was a chance to see them again in the playoffs (actually I think they'll get booted in the first round), but there's also a good chance we'll be seeing Detroit or Tampa Bay,,, we can't go vanilla on all of them!

A few penalties also derailed some of the drives, if not for the penalties we could have at least got into FG position. We were just playing uphill from the beginning with terrible field position and strange play calls.

We are missing Swaim/Hanna in a big way, Escobar won't cut it for the 12 package :(

True, Dallas may need to put in FB Kevin Smith in that formation and use him as the extra TE. He has a better ability of blocking than Escobar and is a capable receiver. Just a thought

Thought the same thing. It is the only thing that makes sense. Plus if we have to play the Giants for game 3 in the playoffs we can then run a totally different gameplan down their throats.

But it is a totally perfect time to use Escobar in other ways, like catching passes. He was not drafted for blocking. They have never played to his strengths as of yet.

I think Zeke only had 8 second half carries. That's unacceptable. He was out only offensive bright spot and we took him off the field for Lance Dunbar. Zeke expressed his opinions to Garrett a few times, which he should have. You gotta dance with the one that brought you.

That's what happens when you can't get a first down.

It would be logical. They're in the playoffs, why go through the effort of creating elaborate game plans for teams they may see again in the post season? It's what I would do.

No, but they know what works. A great running game with 3rd-down conversions can win the game providing they avoid turnovers and drive-killing penalties.

I think, however, the game plan for Detroit will be a little more intensive if they lose to Tampa. Tampa is not so good against the run so they need to make an effort to feed Zeke.
