No offense but if they just used the 4th pick on a TB that will not be the bell cow guy and instead will be a rotational guy................ holy hell.

What was the alternative? Taking a player who's a decent corner but a good safety? Taking a lineman that's a weed head? Taking a offensive linemen who prefers his weed through bongs?

Elliot is going to help Romo out when that extra player comes. Factor in his home run ability? His impact will be felt but it's not smart to run your five year Investment into the ground so he can light it up for people who want to grab him in fantasy.

I agree with the list though. They went safe, and got the most surefire player that will help this team win games. He definitely can do better than Murray, who still gets crapped on these boards. He was a very good back for us, but Zeke can take it to the next level.
Will be interesting to see the usage though. Don't think they'll run him into the ground like Murray though.
I expect them to use all 3 backs, all healthy of course.

So, because of the organizations ineptitude to build a quality team, winning a wildcard can be considered deep run? Sure, we were in the Packers game till the end, but it still counted as a loss. No different than a 1 point loss or a 18 point loss. I'm not sure even Browns fans would consider that a deep run. Good run, sure, not deep.
Agree to disagree.

How deep can a run be in the NFL playoffs considering its 3 games or 2 for some teams.
Sounds like an argument just to justify having an argument.

He's only 20 and injury free. He opens up the passing game even more. He takes added pressure off of Romo.

He's not injury free. It wasn't a major injury, but he hurt his leg last season:

I don't think Elliot will be the bell cow. If here I expect our running backs to contribute as well. Dunbar being sort of the Darren Sproles while they still go running back by committee. At least for now.

I kind of hope you're right. If he gets 20 touches a game or more. Morris can easily tote it for 10....DMC? Don't see much of a need, but maybe 5 and that leaves Zeke with about 15ish. PLUS he'll be a big weapon in the passing game. I hope to hell that they put him in the slot and include short dump offs. He'll be a terror. But yeah...they shouldn't feed him 20-30 times a game even though it will be tempting. He'll be gone in 3-4 years.

Trading down....absolutely should have IMHO. But it's over now and I'm 100% behind Zeke and hope he dominates for a long time. (7 seasons min. would be ideal)

Right. How is that a bad thing? I don't get that opinion. I agree. Keep him healthy as long as possible.

It's not hard to figure out. The 4th pick is a premium pick where you want the player you pick to be a full time player for you. You think if the Ravens took Ramsey at 4, they are going to limit his snaps and keep him fresh for 5 years? Or San Diego is going to limit Bosa snaps over 5 years to keep him fresh? Of course not. They took those players to be immediate impact, full time players.

If you take a TB at 4 and then make him a rotational guy or RBBC guy, then you made a foolish pick IMO. You take a TB at 4, he has to be your prime time, almost every down back. So if Elliott isn't averaging 20+ carries a game, they missed the value on that 4th pick.

Those guys aren't running backs. If Elliot gives you 10 touchdowns and 1200 yards why does it matter where he was drafted?

If they get Elliot run him into he ground and 3 years he's done then we don't get value either. This team needed playmakers and grabbed he best one. I don't care what his stats look like especially if he keeps the defense on the field and Romo healthy. That's worth the pick alone.

LOL at that's the point as to why you don't take a TB in today's NFL at 4. Because you just said yourself without realizing it. They take more of a punishment than most positions and the best way to get the most out of them is limit their usage to keep them fresh.

If you just took a player that in 3 years will be run into the ground because you used him like an elite player, then guess what? You just made the wrong stinking pick.

You just made the case for why we shouldn't have taken Elliott or any TB for that matter at 4.

He was the 4th overall pick. If he's not the bell cow and they do RBBC again, they are doing it wrong.

No thanks. If he breaks down, he breaks down. That's what happens with running backs. Who knows maybe he'll be another Emmitt. The bottom line is that there is a reason they talk about the first 5 years being the best for RB's. I'd rather use him fully in his prime, than preserve him for... later on when he's less good, but a bit less worn down so he can stick around a few extra years? Meh. He's given no indication health wise that he can't hold up under a load. Use him, because after 5 years, there's a decent chance he's gone anyway if you consider the inflated numbers he could put up behind this oline.

Same here! Nothing at all quiet as a mouse! Love just love it! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!! I know this is a "QB" league and they are great and there are some great ones but for me there is nothing more special than that bellcow RB. That one guy with the ball in his hands who can literally take a game over. Feels great to be a cowboys fan this morning!

I get lots of anti Cowboys memes on my Facebook.
So far only one about Zeke and it was only to make fun of his draft day blue suit and his half shirt.

You're right! Romo is back baby! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I see your sarcasm & raise you more insight. Romo is at his best in his aging state when he doesn't have to place the team on his back & carry it. He is no longer the Romo that can scramble his way to Timbuktu. Demarco helped him carry things in 2014 and it resulted in a hugely successful year. We are getting back to that formula this year.

Hey man... Zeke is about to replace McFadden who was 4th in the league in rushing despite not starting for a month of the season. Romo was 3-1 last year. That was our recipe for success. Romo + a running game. We had the running game a year ago.. We lacked the Romo.

No. We had a predictable RBBC a year ago. We don't now. Thank you sweet jesus.

We needed Romo.. You'll see similar results this year if Romo misses 12 games.

We aren't getting back to 2014 without Romo. The run game was fine a year ago.

The winning formula includes a bus driving Romo and a bell cow running back. We proved it in 2014 after failing for 19 years to do so. My money is on us proving it again this year. All Romo has to do is be great in spurts. That's a very comfortable role for him.

While you keep harping on Romo, you might want to worry about having a worthy backup to step in if he does go down.

All that said my good friend Catch, Zeke significantly decreases the probability of Romo going down.

I was in TGI Fridays last night with a couple of close friends (one being a mutual Boys fan). When they announced Zeke as the pick, we had to look like the two biggest idiots in the place jumping up and high fiving each other multiple times. The adrenaline was definitely flowing. Bring on day two!
