Ok, it isn't NEW, exactly, but it's new to us. Built in 1985, 1675 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 1.75 bath, large enclosed patio, large backyard and a big ol' 2 car garage with built in shelves and a workbench. Paid 90k for it. I'm just stoked; it's our first home purchase and we are very excited about it! How did you fellow 'Zoners feel when you purchased your first home?

Congrats Tass!!! :) Sounds like you got a good deal. Can't get that much house many places now.

Personally I hated my house until about 6 mos after moving in. Took me that long to get over the stress of purchasing it. :p:

Thanks, man, I believe we will. I am never moving away from Texas. I LOVE it here! Hawaii was great but Texas just...I don't know...I belong here.

BTW, my son plays football for the Ellison Eagles. Tanin Taylor...look for him in the paper for the next few years!

Yeah, that's another reason I like it here. Not too expensive yet close to the bigger cities if I feel the need for some variety.

I'm still stressing some but the move is going pretty smooth. I love the new house.

Man, I need to move to Texas.....

Well, the big cities will cost a lot more. But here in Killeen (where Fort Hood is) we are about an hour north of Austin and that's what a decent house will run you. A newer one of comparable size is around 125k-140k. Yes, man, move to Texas! Then you can see the Boys play every Sunday guaranteed!

My bro in law just purchased a 1.6 million dollar brownstone in Brooklyn. He has less square footage than me and my house is in a cul de sac on the lake(with a 5 star school district) and I paid 125k.

Then again he works as an architect on Wall St. so he is also getting paid much, much more than me, lol.

Tass that area around Austin is the only other area I would consider moving to. Lakeview stuff in Travis County ideally.

I will keep an eye out for your kiddo's name as I am a big texas high school football geek.

and duh congratz!!!

Having a house is a real cool feeling for sure. Scary at times so get the home warranty stuff if you can.

Have you seen his place?

That's one I could never understand; brownstones in Brooklyn. I grew up in Brooklyn. It's even worse than where I am, on Long Island.

My house...2400 square feet...very nice, very unique...It's valued at $700,000! I have looked in other states...the equivalent in NC/SC would cost around $250,000.

NY QUITE sucks.

I have a new 2785sf 4 bedroom, 3 full baths, bonus room, two car garage, and just shy of half an acre and I paid less than $250,000.00.

Less than a year later, a house of the same size sold for $293,000.00!!!!!

Asked my wife to get me a "For sale by owner" sign. :D

You ready for this? I paid under $1,850.00 for the year! I live near Charlotte so I have the convience of a lot of things without the higher taxes.

Ya think they'd welcome a Yankee?

We bought our house 3 or 4 years ago and I hate it. I'd rather go back to an apartment where I don't have to worry about the maintenance.

That is the down side to home ownership, but now that I have a Home warranty policy, it definitely takes away some of the stress.

That said, if I can help it, I'll never go back to an apt. I hated being that close to people and hearing all their life goings on.
