We literally do not have a running back

Jerry hinted at this in his pre draft presser. That the OL had to be there first. Otherwise we're putting the cart before the horse.

I personally wasn't crazy about any of the RBs once Jeanty, Hampton, and Henderson were gone. They can hopefully get a better RB next year in the first 2 rounds. Or trade for Breece Hall.
It’s always next year or hey let’s get another over the hill cripple. Thanks Jerry

OK, you get a running back. But who’s gonna open the holes for him. I wish people understood how this game really works. You win in the pits. How many times does somebody have to explain this?
So many want the sexy picks instead of sound fundamental thinking while drafting. We are playing the long game not trying to get to the SB this year but instead building something for the future that will last more than one year. Hang tight and see where this is going. Not one single fan is going to be happy no matter who they pick.

You
I’m definitely glad no RB in the first round, if for no other reason they have a short shelf life and it’s not a position you need to pay big money to for production. We got great years out of Zeke early, and then we had to pay him. If you are shrewd and don’t, then why spend a first rounder on a guy who is with you 5 years?

We do need CBs - another risk/reward player in the 3rd though. Jerry did say he has the best medical compared to our other CBs who are out like Diggs. He basically told us that he thinking during the press conference — odds of success at given talent level.

He explicitly said Mingo has better odds than the other WR’s that were on the board, and that RB is very deep this year. A lot of guys can be effective if there are holes.
Just keep buying Jerry’s cheese

Jerry has been building for the future for 30 years. When do we finally hold him accountable for failing.

We could have had Hampton at 12. We pass and draft a Guard, that they did not need. This pick screams. Wasted pick. Booker has a 2nd round grade. So than they get another chance to get a good back. Johnson available. What does Jerry do. He picks a crippled corner and than does a dance. So now we have three defensive backs who will start the season on the PUP list. This sums up the last 30 years.

Hampton at 12??? No way.

All 3 are good picks. All 3 will help. Alas no trust in the clowns running things and not enough premium picks to fill the holes.

I’m trying to figure out what the point was in bringing in, or meeting with all these RB’s, on the visits if you were never planning on drafting one?

Also, news flash folks. The offensive skill players are still exactly the same as they have been for 3 years folks! Lamb and no one else……

This might be a little overstated but I do agree the pick was a surprise. Booker was graded mid to late first round and by many an early 2nd round pick. I see a lot of people talking about him like he is going to step in and bulldoze NFL DTs. I don't see that happening. Look at Guyton last year. He looked weak and unprepared for the speed of NFL players. I think Booker is going to struggle at first with the strength of NFL DTs.

I hate when you guys do this every year. This team had Booker a 1st round grades…so who had him with a 2nd round grade?

We

We have online depth. The booker pick was made because McMillan was gone They did not know what do and guyton is a bust
Exactly.
They already had Bass and Hoffman and had acquired 3 more offseason guards.
At the barest of minimums they needed a LT upgrade because of Guyton uncertainty and Simmons was there.

But yeah,
Tyler Booker is the impact and desperate need guy.

Maybe...
How about finally being able to stop the run and not get prison raped up the gut on defense?
Kenneth Grant was right there but he went one pick after.

Yeah, expect the responses from the Jerry roster building crowd to tell me how far Mazi has improved, LOL!

Build the lines was the right mindset.
Position choice was total failure based on the above explanation.

Nothing I’ve seen suggests Guyton and Booker are similar. What we saw from Guyton is what many predicted. He would be overmatched. Booker may struggle…he’s a rookie but strength isn’t an issue. He’s considered a day 1 starter. Guyton was considered a project who had a good camp last year and got forced in the lineup.

Even with Dak injured we did better on offense than defense. Better running lanes should open up the passing game too.

Drafting Booker allows you options. Such as Tyler at left tackle.

Grant wasn’t gonna stop us from getting run up the gut. Not one player will do that. Mazi keeps getting the credit for why I run defense isn’t bad but that whole line and linebacker group struggled.

This was a concern for free agency. You can't force the draft. You pick the best players. With what should be an improved OL and Williams they should be fine, not great, but fine. Plus they will add a back before today is over to compete and which will likely, IMO, land Miles Sanders on the street or PS because he doesn't play STs. Personally I'm packaging picks to trade up for whomever below they really love or for Jalen Royals who is the only WR left that was in my top or let's say my second group below the top 4.

Some of these guys still have #1 potential IMO

Skattebo
Sampson Tenn
James Oregon
*Tuten - supposedly the Cowboys love him. If he is still there he could be the guy
Etienne GA
Hunter Auburn
Giddens K State
Neal Kan
Gordon OK ST
Martinez Miami
