Our prized defensive FA acquistions were Nolan Carroll, Stephen Paea, and Damontre Moore. This team is nowhere near ready to compete for a championship and may be better off hitting a nuclear reset before having to pay Dak.

I think Gruden is very overrated (he can't draft QBs to save his life for one thing), but if he's provided any QB talent at all he tends to make the most of it. He made Brad Johnson an Pro Bowler, and Rich Gannon went from a nobody to an All-Pro because of him. I would trust him to get the most out of Dak and not let him eat 6 sacks against a guy who averages 3.5 A YEAR at the very least.
Yep. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than what we have now.

I just think a guy like him would rather have a Kirk Cousins instead of a Dak Prescott.

It's why they pay the LTs huge bucks.

After the QB and maybe an elite pass rusher, Left Tackle is usually the most important player on a team.

My fear is that he's been gone from coaching for quite a while. Is that fire still there? Or is there a flicker here and there, thinking of all the good times he had.

The drop from Tyron to Chaz and from Lee to Smith is probably the biggest drop from starter to back up in the entire league, or close to it. It can't get much worse than going from an all-pro to a guy who shouldn't be on an nfl roster. We had that rare situation running at 2 positions yesterday. Kudos, Jerry.

Yeah there's no telling. Also he's getting huge money to just goof off on ESPN, so why leave?

Gruden's dream QB is probably Jeff Garcia before his arm fell off. Unfortunately for Gruden he got Jeff Garcia in Tampa Bay AFTER his arm fell off. :p

That said, Gruden could certainly make an offense that works for a QB with wheels like Dak. The biggest problem with Gruden offensivelywould be an attachment to antiquated WCO terminology that takes 30 seconds for the QB to even spit out the play call.

Jon gruden no thanks.
We need the next Sean Mcvay.
Guy is coach if the year already. Oh and he has the best DC inn the game too. Took them a few weeks to figure out his scheme but by Christ they are into it now

I've never seen a team like us that if we lose a guy somewhere our opponent just absolutely destroys us.

Tyron Smith down? Oh we will almost give up an NFL record for sacks to the DL across from him.

Sean Lee out? Oh our entire defense is now terrible because 1 guy is off the field.

Tony Romo down? Our entire offense shuts down.

When is enough enough for Jerry with these coaches?

Please get us an NFL coach. Please Jerry.

Please get us an NFL GM Jerry!

Garrett knows how to run his scheme effectively if he has the players in place, but cannot at all adjust the plan to cover up weaknesses. It is why he will never be more than an average coach in the league and the team will always be at a disadvantage when there are injuries.
  • 2014 he had the players in place and he had them rolling until they ran into Aaron Rogers.
  • 2015 they lost Romo and he unleashed almost the exact same game-plan every week with disastrous results.
  • 2016 he had the players in place (thank you Dak) and he had them rolling until he ran into Aaron Rogers.
  • Yesterday he again rolled out the same type of game-plan that he would any other week even though he was missing major pieces and they got rolled.
This team needs to be seriously deep or seriously lucky with injuries to win under Garrett.

This is what happens when your O is predicated on having 5 good to great guys on the line holding up long enough for your top 2 receivers to get into their routes and open 15 to 20 yards down the field. It's antiquated as all get out.

People point to the pats yesterday. Tom was under duress quite a bit. But their O is set up to where 3, 4 guys are open in the vicinity. That he can get the ball to them with pressure all around, and still have a chance to turn it into a big gain.

We need a Rex Burkhead/James white dynamic added to the offense. Which could be Rod Smith until Zeke gets back. Or even with him added to the fold. Put Switzee and Bease on the field together. Spread the D out. The Pat's offense is beautifully constructed. Guys open underneath and deep.

Because this 90s style offense only flies if you have great everything and as such without Zeke and Tyron, it just isn't the case.

It's like our coaches on both sides are stuck in a time warp.

The FO can only go so far in constructing a roster. It's up to the coaches to get above and beyond production out of it. Like what was quoted in the Departed film, 'I'm an artist, you give me a ******* tuba and I'll get something out of it'.

We need a maestro but are stuck with the red headed pied piper.

Its not just who we are losing, its also who we are replacing them with.

This x 1000. The loss is amplified (in some cases 2 to 3x) when the replacement is far, far below JAG level. This is the case in Tyron/Chaz and Lee/Jaylon scenarios.

Losing Zeke is nowhere near as problematic when the backups are at least JAGs. Green and Jaylon are a crushing blow to try to withstand.

There is a huge drop off from Lee to Smith.

What bugs me is, Smith has been awful all season.

Why don't they give Wilson or Durant a shot when Lee is out?

This coaching staff keeps doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

To be fair, Tyron might be the best player on our team. He is certainly the best LT in the NFL right now, IMO.

Lee is critical because you have nothing but youth on the Defensive side of the ball. They depend on him so much, to make all the calls and get the Defense into the right situations that it looks like Lee is playing for 3 guys. He kinda is. If we had more experience, it would not be as prominent.

By far the most frustrating issue of 2017 for me. The coaches know for a fact that Jaylon is the worst player on the football field every time he steps on it. Why in the world wouldn't they try something, anything else? It's mind boggling.

Jerry is still waiting for all the accolades he is expecting for getting top of the first round talent in the second round.
