Garrett knows how to run his scheme effectively if he has the players in place, but cannot at all adjust the plan to cover up weaknesses. It is why he will never be more than an average coach in the league and the team will always be at a disadvantage when there are injuries.
  • 2014 he had the players in place and he had them rolling until they ran into Aaron Rogers.
  • 2015 they lost Romo and he unleashed almost the exact same game-plan every week with disastrous results.
  • 2016 he had the players in place (thank you Dak) and he had them rolling until he ran into Aaron Rogers.
  • Yesterday he again rolled out the same type of game-plan that he would any other week even though he was missing major pieces and they got rolled.
This team needs to be seriously deep or seriously lucky with injuries to win under Garrett.
so are you saying that next year he will have the team rolling until he meets up with Rodgers? Garrett, the every other year coach!

Who all remembers when we were saying Jaylon Smith was going to be elite?
Pre-injury everyone had him elite.

Post-injury some still had him elite. People on this website that is.

It’s too bad. It really is .

And It’s too bad the FO got sold a bill of goods by Dr. Cooper.

You are spot on, it appears that the Dallas coaching staff can only win when they have superior talent. Once that talent isn't present, the coaches can't adjust and the depth is usually not very good. We know some the issues with the depth is because the GM took risk that just shouldn't have been taken.
And to piggyback on this thought is the fact that almost all their FA signings have been flops. That will really tax your depth when someone goes down.

Not sure what it is with these guys. Seems like they have been skittish ever since the Carr signing.

the few superlative players make up for the very bad majority of players, as well as the utter incompetence of the coaching staff and general management. it was this way with romo. it's this way with tyron smith, ezekiel elliot, sean lee, etc.
