We Might Still Have Too Many WRs?

Don't worry. We are all about position flex. One of them will end up being a long snapper and another one a DT.

God, why couldnt we have been the team that traded for Martvius Bryant.... none of these guys scare anyone. Just a bunch of guys.

1. Hurns -------------> Likely X receiver
2. Gallup-------------> Likely Z receiver
3. Beasley-----------> Likely Slot receiver
4. T.Williams--------> Chance to keep playing Z receiver. Could be flipped mid-season
5. Brown-------------> ST guy, that could develop into an X receiver
6. D.Thompson-----> Speed guy that takes the top off the defense
7. C.Wilson----------> Likely developed on the practice squad
8. L.Lenoir-----------> A chance to make a practice squad
9. KD.Cannon-------> Likely cut

I think we stash Wilson on the practice squad and keep the rest or try and flip a guy for a draft pick or safety.

1. J.Swaim-------------> Most proven guy in the position
2. D.Shultz-------------> Maybe the most all-around skilled guy
3. R.Gathers-----------> Probably the biggest receiving threat
4. B.Jarwin--------------> Probably cut

It would have been beyond stupid to trade a third rounder for Martavius Bryant. The guy was openly trying to sabotage his team last year. I don’t want him anywhere near the cowboys.

On a side note, I’m excited about these WRs. My biggest concern is what will happen when they struggle a little bit- hopefully Jerry doesn’t panic and send a first round pick away in order to get another WR.

I think Thompson was an insurance policy that is destined to get cashed-out before the final cut-down and that we're going to try to sneak either Noah Brown or Cedrick Wilson on the practice squad. I think Noah Brown's future is tied closely to what they do with T.Will (does fully recover?) because part of the reason they liked T.Will is because of his blocking and that's what they also like about Noah Brown. If T.Will is gone, Noah is probably safe. If T.Will is still here, Noah Brown to the PS it is.

So, IMO:
Hurns (lock)
Gallup (lock)
Beasley (lock)
Austin (lock..not that he earned it, but they ain't cutting him after all of the hoopla about him)

2 of the following will be on the 53-man roster and the loser goes to PS/gets cut:
Williams (50/50 roster/cut)
Brown (50/50 roster/PS)
Wilson (50/50 roster/PS)

Thompson (100% cut)

That should bring us down to 6 WRs.

Numbers are never an issue.
You can always put a Noah Brown on the IR if push come to shove, and he hasn't shown enough, but you like the potential still.
Just ask Tapper how we stash players, how the league stashes players.

And Cedrick Wilson
Wilson is the perfect get the rights to him and stash in practice squad for a year. He likely won’t get enough reps for another team to take him. He’ll be on team next year with Williams/Beasely gone.

Before today, I thought Rod Smith was a lock to make the team.

Tavon Austin and Bo Scarborough may be the end of Rod's run here.

You may be right.

That being said the team only has one FB right now. Who may/may not make the team.

The preseason games will at least be entertaining watching the young qbs and the battle at wide receiver.

I assume watching Scarborough run over future salesman in the second half of preseason games will be fun too.
