We really need some deep speed

Yep, you got me. That's exactly why I want a #1 wr here.

Either that or you're secretly Matt Millen, there really is no other reason to say something as stupid as we should draft the best WR available. Which would mean spending a first on one, which would lead to you this time next year blaming said WR for Romo's mistakes and crying about how we never do anything about the lines... :laugh2:

I thought Holmes was going to be that speed guy we needed. When will he be ready to play more? Is he that bad that he can't be used in few plays?

I mean if injured Ogletree is a better option then our other WRs, why are they even on the team?

Sadly, one of the least known nicknames in Dallas Cowboys History.

Bob Hayes...

Lance Alworth...

...and Duane Thomas...

Known collectively as...
Speed Incorporated.

What we need is a true #1 receiver. I may be in the minority, but in a passing league, I'd like to see us draft the best WR in the draft this off season.

He'll no...

The Cowboys need to focus on the trenches. Both on offense and defense.

I completely agree we need to focus mainly in the trenches. We need another WR though also.

Why? Romo can't hit a parked 747 past 10 yards.....:eek::

I think Dez Bryant has the ability to be a #1 if he can get his head on straight and I firmly believe that if Romo had more time in the pocket and the defense could get pressure without blitzing as much this team would be the favorite in the East and possibly the NFC.

I wish Robinson would have stayed but oh well.

True burner type who makes the opposing secondary's back up an extra 5 yards pre-snap. The ability to just flat out run by a secondary without having to do a double move can't be underrated. Look at Victor Cruz last week at the end of the Commanders game. They lined him in the slot and he just ran right through the Commanders secondary even though that secondary was playing back. Speed kills in this game. A true burner would greatly open up the middle of the field for everyone else. Wonder if we can package a deal to move Jenkins and someone else for a speed guy.

PS. Now I'll sit back and wait for the incoming.:D

I believe that Miles and Dez have been limited by their hamstring injuries for parts of this season.

I don't profess to know this, just a feeling that in certain games were we seldom heard their names, that may have been the deal.

Good news is I believe they are both as close to 100% now than at any other time this year.

We need them both to make a difference today.

Hah. You're funny and if this wasn't a joke your point has been disproven.

Whoever timed Dez at a 4.29 was obviously drunk or minimally didn't understand how to operate a stop watch.

Anyone who has watched Dez outrun punt coverage teams knows that he is not a 4.5 guy.

Sorry, outrunning punt coverage is an indicator of low intelligence, not speed.

Those guys in front of Dez are there for a reason -- to block.

We do have a serious lack of deep speed on offense, but we also need a line to allow those routes to develop too.

We should keep an open mind to a WR addition in the offseason.

I'd be open to a FA WR addition..

It'd be nice to get a young vet whose had a little bit of success and knows the ins and outs of playing the position.

Too much youth in the WR corp, IMO.

Greg Jennings should almost certainly be available next season. His season so far has a been a wash out due to injuries, however, assuming he is healthy he will only be 30 and would be reunited with Jimmy Robinson.

i think what they're missing is a small quick wr, another option besides witten, that romo can depend on.

too bad no one is on the roster that can fill that spot

I said coverage not return. There is the punt coverage team and the return team.

When he outruns the coverage team those are the guys trying to tackle him.

He's certainly an option, but I'd rather they seek a guy out like Laurent Robinson whose younger, if not as accomplished.

Or even a guy like Crayton... A guy who won't cost much, but displays some vet savvy..

Speed is so overrated, and what's the good of speed if your quarterback doesn't have the time to setup and throw when' he's running for his life because the offensive line is horrible in protection.....

I agree with that. It's like we have Miles Austin and a group of WRs who have no real understanding of the offense.

Eh. I wouldn't want to pay age. He's going to want a nice contract.
