We really need some deep speed

True burner type who makes the opposing secondary's back up an extra 5 yards pre-snap. The ability to just flat out run by a secondary without having to do a double move can't be underrated. Look at Victor Cruz last week at the end of the Commanders game. They lined him in the slot and he just ran right through the Commanders secondary even though that secondary was playing back. Speed kills in this game. A true burner would greatly open up the middle of the field for everyone else. Wonder if we can package a deal to move Jenkins and someone else for a speed guy.

PS. Now I'll sit back and wait for the incoming.:D

Cruz ran a low of 4.42. An official 4.49 and a high of 4.58

Austin Miles ran an official 4.47 and has been clocked as low as 4.29

Dez ran a 4.52 at his pro day. I have seen times for him as low as 4.29 and as high as 4.6

Ogletree had a low of 4.30, an official 4.36 and a high of 4.53

So tell me how much more blazing speed Cruz has exactly over the Cowboys receivers again? There is isnt a spit of difference really. Cruz isnt some 4.2 or low 4.3 guy. Yes he is fast. Any guy that can run a 4.45/4.5 forty is fast really. All FOUR of the players listed are plenty fast to run deep routes in the NFL and be open. You act like miles and tree are just possession receivers. Garret needs to be running them more in deep crossing routes is my opinion anyway.

Speed is overrated, Jerry Rice had no problems beating you deep and he was never fast Irvin could get behind you and he was never fast. Fitz isn't that much faster then what we have and he makes plays deep, the list goes on and on

Olgetree is fast.
Dez and miles are both 4.5 guys.

I think we need more quick route runners with immediate separation.

I would rather have an improved o-line to give the WR's more time to run those routes before Romo gets killed.

What we need is a true #1 receiver. I may be in the minority, but in a passing league, I'd like to see us draft the best WR in the draft this off season.

I just want a receiver that catches the ball when it hits his hands.

Whoever timed Dez at a 4.29 was obviously drunk or minimally didn't understand how to operate a stop watch.

Yeah, but Cruz has a "rocket scientist" for a quarterback :D

For the record, you know that Cruz' strength isn't deep speed, right? The Giants scored on that last drive against the Commanders because their secondary is atrocious and they played the worst possible coverage on that play. Huge mistakes by both the corner and the safety cost the Skins that game. Not Cruz' "deep speed".

I don't disagree with you that an infusion of deep speed would help this team, but Cruz isn't the guy I wold use as an example. He's smooth and he's fluid, but he's no burner by any stretch of the imagination. Also, for the record, how's that deep speed working out for Desean Jackson? Without the proper pieces in place, all the deep speed in the world won't make you better.

Fix the O-line and get a couple of WRs with some smarts and this offense would click at a much higher pace. Speed is a nice luxury, but not a necessity if you're offense is competent in other areas.

Matt Millen posing as a Cowboys fan, busted! :laugh2:

I've thought we've needed some true deep speed for a while now. That's not just like the WRs have, but a guy like a Mike Wallace whose speed a DB has to really respect because they know there's no catching him if he gets a step on you.

I guess you're fine with two #2s and a guy who shouldn't be on the roster making up the WR stable...

Compared to OL and DL WR isn't even remotely close to being a need

Admit it, you just need more players to blame for Romo's mistakes
