We should still take a corner in the 1st even if we get Pac-man.

Agreed.

Maybe in the 2nd round but if we sign Pacman I think our priorities will change.

Not saying thats what i'd do. Just what I thinks gonna happen.

but you hate pacman and think he'll destroy us all. or something similiar. right or wrong?

if he's that big a risk (and i agree) then it changes nothing. cb is still a top need. if it's idiocy to sign pacman it's only dwarfed by the bigger idiocy to think he changes our strategy on draft day.

saying it's idiocy yet changes the draft just doesn't follow a path of common sense i can relate to.

I'm not saying CB is not a priority, it certainly is a top priority as it has or should have been for years now. We relied on Reeves and Jones for back up roles far too long, imo.

But, if the value isn't there at #22 for a first round CB don't force it and end up with another Ekubust, Bobby Carpenter-type player at the CB position (both were defensive players picked in the early 20s because of a need at that position). Terrible, terrible picks!! The risk is there of doing the very same thing just because of need.

I don't pretend to think I know who the best CBs are in the draft but I would bet in this day and age the ones that are considered the best will be off the board by the 22nd pick.

well i'm not saying reach either. if we need to trade down, do it. if we need to trade up 3-4 spots for one we covet, do it.

and i'm sure there are more CBs to be had after the 22nd pick.

I don't want to put too much faith in Pac Man (staying out of trouble, not field skills) or Henry staying healthy, but we can still get a quality corner in rd 2. The first round corners will probably be DRC, McKelvin, Talib, Jenkins and Cason (iffy if we don't go CB). That means Brandon Flowers, Tracy Porter and Justin King (not a fan of his) will all be their in rd 2. If we can get a stud WR at 28, I think we can afford to wait till rd 2 to get a CB, even if we have to trade up.

He played in 2006. He was suspended last year.

I do think we will get a CB in the 1st though.

Agreed. Take a 1st Round CB, sign Newman to an extension, and take another CB in the mid-rounds. The team is set at that critical position with or without Adam Jones.

I think getting Pacman would allow Dallas some flexibility in the draft. Dallas could now go after the best player available as for now if they see a RB that is better than the CB, they'd better go after the CB since there's a future and immediate need there. But with Pacman they could take the highest player available and with the deep CB class still pick up a quality CB in the second round. It helps that the CB class is so deep. Otherwise I would agree that getting a first round CB is likely a must.

I was thinking of what corner would make it to our 2nd rd pick. Here's how it could go:

Patriots - Mckelvin
Saints- DRC
Cardinals- Talib
Bucs- Jenkins
Chargers- Cason
Packers- Flowers
Ravens- Porter

So that leaves Justin King, Patrick Lee, Terrel Thomas, Tyvon Branch, Charles Godfrey and Terrance Wheatley. Not a bad list but I would prefer the top list of guys.

Ideally, if we can trade from 22 to 25 and pick up Cason, that would be nice. Otherwise, if we really like Cason, and we think he ranks right up there with the players around pick 22, we should just take him.

It's only if we have a player (or another team has a player) ranked at say, 12 overall, and he falls into our lap at 22. Then the decision is more complicated, IMO, and maybe you then have to either engineer a trade or take the (much) better ranked player.

That would be a good situation I also wouldn't be opposed to trading our 22nd pick and our 61st pick if the guy we want isn't there with Atlanta for early 2nd rders.

The other team that we could engineer a trade with, maybe with our 28th pick, IF it comes to that is the Ravens.

They have been working out the QB Brohm, and they will be having a 1 on 1 with him as well. And we all know that the Ravens need a QB. I think the Ravens Round 1 pick is probably too early to pick Brohm, but with our 28th pick, if we are looking to trade down, that might be interesting for us.

um, cause pacman is one pacman move away from being out of the nfl forever.

i'm only going to roll the dice so far with him. if he doesn't pan out DO NOT put us in a position to hurt more than it has to. saying "fixed" by signing him doesn't fix it.

I also think that if it comes to this, Pac-man will take the NFL to court.

I wouldn't want to touch Pac-Man. He's crazy, but if we do get him you can't have enough corners. But it is a low risk thing for Dallas. If Pac-Man gets in trouble, cut him.

I believe a trade for Adam Jones will happen. It's just a matter of when.

That said, I do not believe such a transaction would (or should) rule out Dallas selecting a corner with one of their first round selections.

You can't trust Pac Man and you can't trust that he will be as good as before. We need a 1st round corner no matter what

Yep...........we're too close to lose on a gamble..........
