We still need a swing tackle

Glad we signed Peters, and hats off to our front office for making it happen!
Good job Jerry!

But the reality is, is that he just replaces Tyrone, and we still have no suitable, quality back up swing tackle.

Are there any other options sitting out there that we should look at?
Do we just sit tight?

I believe Peters at LT and Tyler at LG is our strongest option, so I don't really want to see Tyler at LT if Peters is our starter and gets hurt.

I've been complaining about this forever but these days only half of the starting tackles are what we would call "quality" tackles so that means adding another starting roster spot to your cap, there's always going to be a team willing to pay your backup starter's money.

I don’t think the starting left tackle would be signed to the practice squad. The plan has always been for Tyler be the replacement for Tyron. Stop listening to YouTuber’s (internet insiders) who think they know more then the Cowboys organization. Having Peters here is to help develop Tyler or break glass in case of emergency.

Tyler might start at LT for game 1 due to Peters just signing this week; however, I think they would have Peters active as the backup LT.

If Peters starts, then Tyler is the backup LT and starting LG.

They also have the option of Steele at LT. He started 6 games at LT last season and 8 at RT.

In the 2nd half of the final preseason game, Waletzko replaced Ball at LT.
- Ball then moved to RT.
- If Ball had to play for some reason, I'm curious if they would play him at RT with Steele at LT.

Lemme see, 17 games to play still. The probability of one more o-lineman getting hurt is highly likely.

But then to depend on the possible backup performances of Waletzko, Ball or both to save the day is not a risk worth taking.

So yep, I'm with jon van brocklin, they desperately need another decent swing tackle.
Really needed one all off season IMHO
I don't know why we wait until disaster strikes to make a move.
It's better to be proactive than reactive.
We have plenty of cap space.

1: They can activate 2 practice squad players each week.

2: The Kicker & backup QBs are on the practice squad. They have to put 1 of Peters, Kicker or QB on the 53 if they want to have all of them active.
- They'll keep Peters on the practice squad until they know for certain that he is physically ready to play a game.

They can wait until Saturday to make those types of decisions.

They'll likely move somebody on the 53 to IR at some point. By waiting, they keep their options open.
