Weeden was fine. He needed more help from the run game and D in the 2nd half. As in, more than the ZERO help he got.

I'm much more disappointed in the D. I know we were banged up on the DL but they got completely shredded. Oh well. On to the Saints and, hopefully, Luke McCown.

Sunday Night Football: Brandon Weeden vs Luke McCown? Sorry, NBC.

We really missed Mincey out there today IMO. Just survive another week, gut out a win vs NO, and we get some much needed reinforcements down the stretch.

Some on here are using those numbers to say he was good lol..not true....lets look at the real numbers..anyone can dump off short passes.... beasly was only wr with a catch and he is the slot receiver( 4 targets ,4 rec.,49yd. Long of 20 yds) williams 2 targets late in game 0 rec) tightends-- witten (targets 8 ,rec. 6 ,yds 65, long of 19) that is 10 of 14 for 114 yds to a tight end and one receiver, the slot receiver at that ( not too bad)...now for the rb's.....randle( 2 targets, 2 rec, 18 yds, long 9 yds) dunbar (10 targets, 10 rec., 100yds long 22 yds).......the longest pass play was 22 yds and most of that came on the run after the catch.....these stats are checkdown stats.(12 rec 118 yds to rbs).not hard for a qb to do..... weeden qbr 54.8. Rating 87.8. He has 9 straight losses as a starting qb......the weeden experiment should be over.

You say we said it's not great, which no one said. It ain't bad either. If you can find someone better to start for us right now 'genius' then enlighten us please.

Well, the first half, things went according to plan. The second half, the Cowboy coaches made no/wrong adjustments, Face it, this one game the ATL coaches were better than the Cowboy coaches. ATL had the better plan.

I have no idea if the coaches trust Weeden or not.

As someone else put it, they didn't give Weeden a chance to win or lose the game.

Context is the thing not the actual numbers. When you say this without context it sounds like you have a valid point but I don't remember McCoy just checking down the majority of that game. I could be wrong though.

McCoy did check down. His whole career has been about the check down. He is a noodle armed QB. Neither McCoy's performance last season nor Weeden's performance today were great in my opinion. The context is Washington was able to win and Dallas was not.

Anyone want to blame WeDone for our inept offense in the second half should go check out the game log.

Only time we actually gained more than 1 yard on first down was when he passed. We either committed a penalty or Randle ran for negative yards.

Second down wasn't much better by his teammates. Free was called for holding, TWill dropped the pass, and Beasley caught 2 passes for 6 yards both times.

I can't believe I'm defending WeDone but I don't know how yo can blame him for the bad offense. He isn't Romo. He is a backup QB that needs his cast to at least do their job. He isn't going to make anything happen from nothing. He isn't going to overcome other players mistakes and/or bad coaching.

Ryan pretty much did the same. How many long passes did he throw today? Maybe one. All the big plays were results of Julio's YAC and the RB making big runs.

The context from just numbers I saw was he had a 49yrd pass and a 28/9yrd play. Don't remeber Weeden having those even though he has a stronger arm. Maybe the big passes were checkdowns that were run after the catch Ill go check later on if you don't know.

We tried to hide him behind our run game. Which was smart. Now when we face a team that can completely stop that ****. Game Over. Pick 6 heaven

Well they will have to play up to stop it so in theory things downfield should open up.

Well your title says 'great'. Makeup your mind which one is it: good or great? So maybe you need to reread your own thread title.

I don't buy that the gameplan was to check down, that was his choice. He decided not to look at our receivers.

And the one time he tried to go down field past 10yrds...it was picked off. As soon as he left the pocket I was screaming @ the TV to throw it away.....I guess I wasn't screaming loud enough

Well I just checked on gamepass from that game and he had 8 passes of 10yrds or more so depending on how you wanna look at it you can say he was checking down. Also for McCoy noodle arm he at least went down the field deep a few times ex 49yrd play to Jackson

It's 8.9 yards per attempt and it's 84.6% completion rate. Sorry, QB's don't complete nearly 85% of their passes at almost 9 yards an attempt. If they did...everybody would be dink and dunking their way around the field because that's excellent efficiency.

We couldn't stop the Falcons. Our defense was the problem.

Anybody saying otherwise doesn't have a clue when it comes to football.

Zip, nadda.

My bad, didn't realize you were replying to the post about McCoy and not Ryan.

why is this news we all know Weeden needed help
he got it it the first half not the second
22-26 230 total yards is ok ,
the second half we couldn't run the ball
Weeden will improve ,how much?

It seems like everyone in the NFL so far is throwing the short, dump-off passes over the long ball. Eli Manning was basically two-step dropped and released the ball short our first game. Peyton Manning tonight is throwing short except for that one long pass to Thomas at the end of the half. Stafford is pretty much doing the same.

Brady is the exception. Tyrod Taylor is airing it out too.

The first half Atl. didnt stack the box..they made adjustments in the 2nd half and stacked 7,8 men in the box to stop the run knowing weeden wouldnt make them pay for it..thats why the running game slowed in 2nd half.....his numbers are ok for checking down all game......he is what he is and thats not good for dallas.....the defense was gassed because the offense wasnt on the field long enough to let them rest in the second half.......so he wasnt helping them at all..
