Week #1 Game Plan

My game plan

Run Zeke
Run Alfred
Run Zeke.

Repeat process
In theory that's great. In reality it will not work in the NFL today. We definitely need to run the ball often and effectively to maximize our strengths (Oline and RB talent). However, we have to throw the ball effectively as well. If we can't throw the ball, every defense will just stack the line of scrimmage against us. We need good balance, with an emphasis on the running game. We can't just rely on running the ball alone.

I believe the key to the game plan this week will be Beez. Watch out for his monster week.

If you average 3.5 yards a run it will work. And it would work.Just because a defense knows your running doesn't mean they can stop it if executed properly.

A lot of power running and movement from Dak to keep the NYG off balance. Dak definitely will be a part of the running game and likely will break free for a long run or 2. Also, whoever Free is blocking on passing downs, I'd chip his man at least 50% of the time to give him some help.

I like the run/pass options and hated them when we played against it. Still remember D ware having trouble. It seems very hard to stop especially if you don't wear it out.

This is the OBVIOUS game plan and the one the Giants will 100% be expecting. Personally, I would NOT do this to start out the game. I break out a package of plays that the Cowboys cant and havent used with Romo, but that will use all of the skills that Dak has. I would incorporate screens, option packages, QB keepers, long play action passing. And I would certainly break out the Zeke packages where he lines up outside, inside and get him fully involved in the passing game. I would NOT go overly CONSERVATIVE like Garrett typically does with backups. Let the kid off the leash a little. You are NOT going to win this game relying only on the run game.

I would soften up the D in the first quarter with this plan and then get the run game in full once we have a lead. Use the run in the beginning, by all means, but I would be prepared to mix it up and get a lead with the passing game.

Agreed. The scariest part about this game to me - is that the Giants have the luxury of falling behind a bit and we likely don't. Our offense with Dak likely isn't built for that. Meaning, we can't afford mistakes. That's a lot to ask of a team starting a rookie week 1 of the season.

Nah, that is playing scared. This will be a shootout and we will need Dak to take some chances and have the ability to make big plays.

We should play scared. We have a bad defense and a rookie QB. We can't afford to lose the turnover battle and/or get behind.

I think that is the wrong mentality. I am not saying taking stupid chances, but throw them off and dont be afraid to use Dak. Its about establishing a confidence and a mentality for the team that we are NOT going to play scared. Look how that worked out last year? Dak needs to become the man and the team needs to have confidence in him. Take some chances and hit the ground running. Let the team know that we are NOT backing down just because Romo isnt around. Time to move forward.

1st play...Play action fake handoff to Zeke, throw deep to Butler since the safety was doubling Dez...TD!

Bravado is all fine and dandy, but it only takes you so far. Dak is a rookie (late) 4th round pick. If we put it on him to win games, we aren't going to win many games. When the Ls start adding up, the confidence goes out the window.

I understand that the fans have consumed the Kool-Aid and think Dak is the next Russell Wilson, but he's not. The team should, and will, play it safe.

Ok, we can disagree on that one. We will need to score 30 points at least to win this game. That wont happen playing it conservative and safe in my opinion.

But I would agree that they will play it safe.

You have to stop with this butler nonsense. The guy will get on the field for 5 plays tops this game unless someone gets hurt.

First play should be a WR screed to Dez or a quick hitch to Dez for 5 yards. Then hammer it with Zeke. 3rd and 1 or a first down will result.

We'll see, won't we.

On offense it is obvious. Run and let Dak use his legs to make plays and get out of 3rd and longs.

On defense, BLITZ, BLITZ, BLITZ!! Our defense isn't that bad but it isn't good to where we can play coverage against Eli Manning. Yes, his Oline isn't good but rushing 4 won't get the job done and Eli could get to the ball to his weapons. Might as well Blitz and make him hurry the throws.
