A 20-19 loss is a tough one. Some observations:

1. Conservative play calling once again for the back up QB. This will cost Garrett his job if he does not work with Linehan to change.
2. Start Alfred Morris. He had better vision, broke more tackles then Zeke. Make Zeke EARN the job.
3. Speaking of Zeke, he does not appear in game shape and needs to be quiet about "breaking the rookie rushing record."
4. This team wants to be 2014 so BAD. I get it. Ball control offensive, time of possession - but it only works if you score TDs.
5. Defense was Ok, but any QB will be able to have plenty of time in pocket. The lack of a pass rush will haunt them all year
6.Some players just are not smart. Dunbar and Williams need to realize they need to get out of bounds. Maybe Bailey misses the kick - at least give him the chance.
7. That beautiful stadium has no home field advantage at all. It hasn't since it opened and my never.
8. Garrett outcoached by rookie HC

Side notes on other young QBs.

1. Broncos Trevor Siemian - coach gave him confidence with throwing out of the gate.
2. Eagles Carson Wentz - no preseason - no problem. He looked like a vet out there. He coaches were not conservative
3. Patriots Jimmy Garoppolo - make some nice throws- helps to learn from Brady.

We threw right out of the box to. Wentz 2nd pick in draft and was playing the Browns Garoppolo is in his third year. The play calling suck last year and Garret didn't learned from his mistakes. We have to take some more shots down the field and make some plays in the passing game. Teams are just going to play the run until we make them pay for it.

Having Zeke ride the pine would nothing short of total stupidity. The guy was drafted 4th overall for a reason. Its not like Morris was the starter here and lost his job. If after 3 or 4 games Zeke struggles and Morris out performs him then my all means. Morris had 7 carries for heavens sake.

It just feels like more of the same.. It's a 50/50 brand of football.

I feel like our entire teams success is dependent on Romo..

Nothing against Dak... I just think Romo is about the only player on this team that the coaching staff can't make average.

This offense Linehan designed for Romo in 2014 nobody knew it and it worked well

Now it's been deciphered and has to be changed I hope red figures that out before cost him his job

Far too early to tell that from just one game of Dak though.

Maybe it's on Gavin, but we need someone like him(or what he should of become) in the redzone.

Feel like unless Dez comes down with a circus catch, it's tough to score a passing TD in there. And when we can't score passing wise, the defense loads the box.

Well.. We were 3-1 last year with Romo in a 4-12 season.

The ability to impose our will on the ground and Romos ability to buy time and make a play were why the 2014 offense so effective. The play calling was still nothing special other than Linehans ability to bring balance.

It is true that our offense established a lot of tendencies, teams know them, and we still play right into those tendencies.

Seriously we both know the Giants had us beat. And I'm pretty sure any quarterback could have beat the Dolphins last year
In 2014 on a third-and-seven Romo would throw for 4 yards and we'd game another 5 to 10 after the catch
Last year on 3rd and 7 we throw for 4 and the guy would be tackled at 5 that's the difference teams are taking away the short stuff and the run at the same time

Until we roll Dak out of the pocket and hit some deep stuff nothing's going to change

Doubtful. He got next to zero heat last year for doing the same thing with two other QBs.

Where was the patent back shoulder Dez TD?

Bench Free Start Green

RBBC Morris 1 Zeke 2. The hype of this situation has not helped him. Zeke should have never been named the starter over a proven vet like Morris. Have to earn that. Plus he only played 8 snaps in the PS. Did you hear the stadium announcers hype him. Zeeeekeeeee! And he got 2 yards. Thats crazy

Bench TWill Start Butler

Witten will not last 16 games with the beating he took yesterday.

At the end of the day, is this team a Super Bowl contender? No, Not with this defense. I think people need to have lower expectations. Every year it is the same thing. Defense is inept. I'm done getting mad over it. The team is not good enough and that is not an over reaction, it's just being objective.
It's nice to see we have a QB of the future, but it seems we will be rebuilding mode for awhile.

Yeah I think you're right Catch. I think every nuance of the offense is designed around his skill set and we're not very good at anything else. We better start moving away from it or we will continue to caught with our pants down.

I don't know why but this hits home harder than any other point you made.

Game like last night's Patriots victory AT Arizona without Brady and Gronk are why I am finally ready to put Belichek ahead of Lombardi, Laundry, Knoll, Brown, etc in the pantheon of NFL coaches.
