Week 1 vs Jets Notes/Prediction

On a side note i'm a little shocked Rob and Rex haven't started going at it in the media yet.
The build up to that Browns/Jets game last season was pretty funny

Wait for it, it's coming.

Good thing about Romo is he has one nasty pump fake that messes with DB's.

You mean the shoulder shrug he did in the San Diego game and Erik Weddle didn't bite on the fake and intercepted the ball?

That's the one. Maybe it didn't work then but Romo has used it to his advantage many times as well.

Works well when Romo runs the draw play. The same play did not seem to work as well when Kitna or McGee ran it.

I think we should test him some. You can't just leave him chillin on the island all game....
I agree, actually.

Let Miles run a dig on Revis. If I remember correctly, Austin excels at that route. I know Revis is a physical corner, but let's see him against Austin's RAC ability...make him prove it. It's a safe throw, and you're putting one of Austin's strengths to good use. Besides, Garrett doesn't seem like the guy who shies away from a challenge.

The third issue worth mentioning is our offensive play calling with our new offensive line. They mentioned it on their board a bit, but never really connected the dots to draw in the whole picture. We're obviously not going to leave the line with their collective rears hanging in the wind. We've got two terrific blocking TE's who also happen to excel as receivers. Although John Phillip's stat lines for his career don't appear worthy of mention, we all know better.
And two running backs just like them. Both can block, and both are very good receivers.

Sure, we can test their corners some, but the main attack will be quick over the middle stuff to TEs and screens to our RBs. But I think Romo should keep an eye on their corners. If any offense can make a blitzing defense pay, it's this one, the offensive line's youth and inexperience notwithstanding.

I don't want to sound like a fortune teller, but I think the game will be won when our offense is on the field against their defense, our best unit against theirs, and it could come down to a pick six for the Jets or a torched Cromartie trying to cover Dez. I can see either happening.

I just hope it's not the Cowboys who make the fatal error.

Fair enough.

You just missed it. Rob just tweaked Rex about the foot fetish thing.

Rex didn't respond. Still refers to it as a "personal matter".

That was Revis' rookie year, just saying.

Romo's first full season as a starter. Inexperienced receivers across from TO, less dynamic running backs, waste of a roster spot at the second TE position.

That kinda what you were going for there hoss?

Wow, all those scrubs, and they still scored the second-most points of any team in cowboy history.

So how many points will they score this year with all the improvements? 600?

It is all good man. I mentioned it was old.

I was just saying that while Revis was still a very good corner that year, it's nothing compared to now.

The Cowboys still destroyed the Jets that game even with the setbacks you pointed out, but I just thought I'd mention that.

revis' rookie year...come on. lol.

Being a little thin skinned? I already said twice it was an old vid. Not once did I degrade Revis.

That was one of Romo better seasons back when Marion was still the "Barbarian", Crayton had a better season as a #2 than any #2 in Dallas has had since and a year when Fasano had more TDs than Martellus has had in the last 2 seasons combined.

In case anyone is interested, here's what they're saying on the Jets board...

I checked out the thread. This will be a tough game and I don't expect the Cowboys to win. However, I found it laughable that almost everyone in the thread speaks of Romo as if he is some INT machine, when in reality, Mark Sanchez is 100 times the INT machine that Romo is. I only wish we had the corners to take advantage of it and make him pay for it.

Well, he does throw a fair number of picks. But then again, he also makes a lot of plays with a high YPA.

Why not give Romo the same props for YPA? Going through that thread on your board and many make it out like Romo is some scrub. Tony's career YPA is 8.04 which is considerably better than Sanchez.

Comparing both their first 2 years.

Sanchez
2009 YPA = 6.71
2010 YPA = 6.49

Romo
2006 YPA = 8.61
2007 YPA = 8.10
