Week 1 vs Jets Notes/Prediction

Right, and Aikman had 56.6% 11 TD-18 INT in 1990 with Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek, and a HOF coach.

Point?
Jimmy Johnson is in the Hall of Fame?

I missed when that happened.

It tells me that drafting is not an exact science because there are intangible things that cannot be measured like heart and football intelligence. Pray, what does it tell you?
Tells me that at that point and time, no one thought he could play at this level.

Well we picked him up and he made our roster, at that point in time we decided he was good enough. What great value we got.

What exactly are you trying to argue? I'm simply educating you that Romo was and is a great athlete. He wasn't drafted primarily because he played Division I-AA in an unsophisticated offense. He was seen as a project, and most teams expected him to go undrafted. Yet several teams tried to sign him as an UDFA. He chose to go to Dallas because there was no firmly established starter and he saw a chance to make the final 53, which he did. Also, Sean Payton has ties to Eastern Illinois and was likely influential in Romo's choosing the Cowboys.

Point is, Mark Sanchez was a lot closer to being able to start an NFL game at 22 than was Tony Romo. That's why Romo sat on the bench behind mediocre quarterbacks like Testaverde and Bledsoe.

So how does this support your point that it is unfair to compare Romo in his third year to Sanchez in his first? If anything, it seems like you are trying to suggest that Romo had a lot of catching up to do and needed those two years just to get to Sanchez's level.

Their mouths have outgrown their accomplishments.

If that's what you think, you don't understand the draft very well.

Jets or Giants?

Because I do hear a lot of ramblin coming from the Jets organization every year when the Giants have the superior NY franchise....

I would say the Jets organization has been known for more talk than anybody recently.... and the Giants have the recent super bowl.

I've WATCHED Sanchez play in those playoff games and the offense is just bogged down by his (majority of the time) horrible decision making. Sure a few times a game he'll make an amazing throw but he is very inconsistent. It's like he's thinking about what to do instead of knowing and reacting to what he sees the moment he sees it. But with that said I have nothing against Sanchize he is from my fav college team and wish him well when not playing the Cowboys, Hell I was even rooting for him to do well against pissburgh in that AFC champ game last year (i hate pissburgh).

For him to stay the Jets QB I feel like he's gonna have to excel this year, ya know, carry them in a few games, cut down those INT's and vastly improve his decision making and accuracy.

If Romo had the line that Mark has he'd put up a lot better numbers than Mark even with what Mark has had at the WR position.

I wouldn't want him as my QB!

That was one of Romo better seasons back when Marion was still the "Barbarian", Crayton had a better season as a #2 than any #2 in Dallas has had since and a year when Fasano had more TDs than Martellus has had in the last 2 seasons combined.

Worthy to mention then that Crayton didn't play in that game, we started Sam Hurd hence the mention of an "inexperienced WR opposite of TO." Dez's production over the few games he played in 2010 make Crayton's look foolish, and he was the third option to start last year. Miles and Dez are 1a and 1b this season compared to the drop off between #1 and #2 in 2007.

Marion is less dynamic than Felix, even on his best day. Fasano was such a key player that he was jettisoned at the end of the season. Marty B brings the pain with his blocks, he's head and shoulders above Fasano in that regard.

Point being, our team that will play the Jets in a few days has better weapons than it did in 2007.

I am a Pac 10 homer as most on here know. I would not have wanted Mark Sanchez in the 1st round under any circumstance. I certainly wouldn't have traded up to get him.

Will Miles be ready?

A quote from Romo today.
“I think Miles will be fine,” Romo said. “Miles works real hard, cares about the game. He has a great head on his shoulders and has a great feel for the game. I suspect he’ll be ready to roll come Sunday night.”

Didn't that trade get the Bucs Josh Freeman from the Browns through the Jets?
