Week 1 vs Jets Notes/Prediction

Well, you wanted me to say that I didn't see either game. Instead, I told you that I watched the giants game all the way through, and you didn't like that answer, so you completely skipped that and highlighted the seahawks game, as if to suggest that had I only watched that game, I'd have seen how his 189-yard performance was really something special.

So what about the giants' game? Tell me. I want to know what I missed.

Try the very first series when the Giants already were getting penetration through our line. Then try looking at the receivers falling down, our RB's dropping screen passes, Crayton's dropped pass, his pulled up route, etc.

Go from there smart guy. You've stated your agenda and admitted to only watching one of the three games that Romo has lost in the playoffs and want to put the blame solely on one person's shoulder when he's only 1 part of the equation.

You look nothing more than a myopic, ill-informed, and ignorant agenda-driven fan. Perhaps you should consider following the Patriots, you'll fit right in.

So in 2007 we lose to the Giants (who won the superbowl knocking off the undefeated Pats btw) by 4 points. Romo throws for 200 yards 1 TD - 1 int. He wasn't helped out by the O-Line very much and dropped passes killed us. Were forced to throw one downfield with no time left on 4th down and he gets his only interception. Not a bad loss IMO.

Here's a recap if you can't remember the game.

here's the best highlights I found on YouTube... shows some of the horrible O-Line play and dropped passes.

ALL about our oline in this one.......no one is saying it, but I hope to heck Romo comes out of it healthy. Would like to see Red keep the game plan VERY vanilla. 24-14 Jets win.:(

Garrett needs to "max protect" as much as possible in this game. I dont want to see 5 WR empty backfield shotgun formations, thats a recipe for disaster in this game.

We play the lowly 49ers the next week, get cute then Garrett, not now.

Unfortunately, I had to watch the entire giants game because I was rooting heavily against the Giants. Romo was terrible. I didn't watch the Seahawk game, but I saw his line: 17-29 for 189 against a so-so club.

You didn't watch that Giants game, then, either. Or else you don't know what you're talking about. My money is on the latter.

We play to win. Jets generate pass rush through blitzing schemes and not with their line. We spread the field and knock em down when they gamble. No ***** **** around here, time to nut up or shut up.

The blitzing is what is concerning me.

If I recall, it was a blitzing linebacker from the Giants (Boley I think) that broke Romo's collarbone. Guess what, a rookie got confused on blitz pickup and released to early.

I dont want to watch history repeat itself. I am not saying just handoff all game, just leave a couple of extra blockers in to handle the blitzers.

For sure, definitely don't want any injuries... but we can't play conservative all game. You have to make them pay at times or else they will never hold off the blitz calls.

Well. My question goes down the drain.

Why does the last two minutes of the Cowboy/Giants first half seemingly gets overlooked a lot?

SaltwaterServr;4088261 said:
Oh we already know the answer to that one don't we?

Youse guys jus' don' know what you're tawlkin' about.

I just hope that if things do get out of hand that Garrett will not let the Jets just tee off on Romo. In other words, if it looks like our o-line cant hold up we need to get Romo out of there.

In the big picture of things, this game doesnt really matter that much. This is an AFC game, so it will have no bearing at all on tiebreakers and stuff. Much more important to win our division games and our other conference games and we need a healthy Romo to do that.

Just realized the Jets have only ever won their division 2 times since the merge.....

Wow.

Wow.

You're kidding???

Looked it up, and no you're not. Twice since 1970???

That's in the same realm of Eagles Super Bowl legacy bad.

I gotta see who is worse other than Houston.

EDIT:

Detroit has 3 since the merger
New Orleans has 4
Atlanta has 4

The rest that are tied with the Jets are expansion teams. I guess it's fitting that even when they're a decent team, they still are in the shadow of another just like they'll always be the second team in New Joisey behind the Giants.

For real though, I was looking it up to see if they ever won the division with Sanchez..... then I realize they only have two times and was like

I would say the Jets organization has been known for more talk than anybody recently.... and the Giants have the recent super bowl.

I love their attitude i hope Rob brings the same attitude to our D as Rex has to the Jets.. The Jets don't care what you think of what they say their whole mindset seems to be "bring your best game we're gonna beat you anyways" and you can't really argue with the results back to back AFCC games

I agree with you. I was just bringing up that they are known for running their mouth. Anyways back to back AFCC games is nice but IMO they overachieved. They still haven't won their division and I really don't see how they are better than the Pats/Steelers/Colts (with Manning). I even like the Chargers over them.

I see the Jets taking a step back this year especially in the playoffs. Just my prediction. Sanchez just sticks out like a sore thumb to me I can't pick them to win anything with him taking snaps.

jimmyxx7;4088237 said:
That's not even the point. The point is that he played very well during the regular season with those offensive lines and then suddenly played well below par in the playoffs. That's the issue.

If you think having Free take his very first snaps at LT after having played RT most of the season against Allen and having a gimpy Colombo instead of Free who had been playing RT most of the season is the same line then idk what to tell you.

This team got hot with Adams at LT and Free at RT that year not Free at LT and Colombo at RT which was what they where forced to play with once Flozell went down

I'll take your lack of a responsive argument as a concession.

I've been fair here. I've admitted that Romo is a top-10 QB and that he's a better player than Sanchez now. BUT does anyone here have the guts to admit that Tony Romo has a history of not showing up in the playoffs?

To answer your question, yes, Romo has performed better in the regular season than he has in the playoffs, and Sanchez has done the reverse.

Luckily, Sunday night is not a playoff game, and the league isn't going to spot the Jets any points because Sanchez has 4 playoff "wins" at only 24.

Enjoy the game!

Sickening game, easily winnable game, but the kind of product this team has put out over the past few years.

the jets have had some horrible teams, ownership, coaches, players, drafting, dan marino, tom brady, 90s bills, etc.

all those things would give you about 2 division wins. i dont think any jet fan will come here, and say 'we have a rich history' because we dont. it's impossible to say otherwise.

i love seeing fans of other teams understand what the jets/rex are doing. being an embarrassment/loveable loser(i guess) has haunted the jets franchise for a long time now.

you guys will start to understand why rex ryan talks so much, because you have his brother on your coaching staff. rob is going to put some wild stuff out there, but trust me..the players are going to think rob is god, and will run through a wall for him.

is it possible for dware to be better? with a ryan coaching him, yeah man, and thats pretty scary, because he is already the best at his position.

In defense of the Romo/Sanchez thing, I don't think anyone is saying that Sanchez is a better QB than Romo, because that would just be ignorant.

However, we just feel Sanchez is being disrespected as usual by the opposing fanbase.

In the 2 year sample we have of him up to this point he has not been a star, but what rookie/soph QB has really? He could have played better in parts, but he's shown his flashes and been a constant in two AFCCG runs. Not many QB's in the entire league let alone 24 year old's can say something like that. He didn't lead his team to those games, but he contributed when he needed to be and actually outplayed his defense in both of the title games.

We are just content in knowing that the QB we watched over the past two years, who isn't close to a finished product, already has shown what it takes to make it deep into the playoffs.

...it's not ridiculous to think he will have made anther significant jump from year 2 to 3 and be a very good QB.

Is Mark Sanchez dating adults yet, or is he still strafing 17 year olds?
