Week 7: With the 4th pick in the draft

I don't know - but if were in a position to take a top QB we take him

theres not many years we should be drafting top ten

I wouldn't unless there is clearly a QB prospect head-and-shoulders above the rest ala Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman , et cetera.

Jake Locker is raw and a struggles with accuracy and consistency. Ryan Mallett has a great frame and outstanding arm, but questions continue to come up regarding his decision making and game preparation. Andrew Luck is an intriguing prospect who might be the best of the three.

However, I could not forsee Jerry selecting a QB in the Top 4 or 5 and paying him the requisite signing bonus and salary to sit on the bench for the next two or three seasons.

I don't blame him either. I'd rather take a shot at a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, a player that needs some seasoning and development and comes at a significantly cheaper price.

Ask the 49ers about picking a QB out of need. In the '05 Draft there was no clear cut No. 1 overall type prospect. The 49ers tried but failed at trading out of the pick, instead they kept it and selected Alex Smith with the No. 1 overall.

Again, CB is an immediate need on this team.

I. They only have three CBs on the roster (not including Alan Ball)
II. Terrence Newman will be 33-years old when the season starts next year.
III. IMO, Orlando Scandrick has proven he's JAG. He needs to be challenged by another corner.

If we have the #1 you have to at least consider Andrew Luck. I still have faith in Romo, but you have to consider it.

If we have #2 thru #6'ish we have to hope for Patrick Peterson. After that, you trade down. A lot of these guys in that range look the same. Why take Marcell Dareus at #4 when you can get an Adrian Clayborn or Cameron Heyward around #15.

My biggest fear would be Jerry's obsession with Razorbacks and him falling in love with Ryan Mallett.

Jerry's "obsession" with Razorbacks?

Outside of Felix Jones, can you name a single Razorback drafted during Jerry's tenure in Dallas?

My mistake, Luck is Stanford and Locker is Washington. Now I'm interested.

I may be off a guy or two, but the only other Arkansas player I can think of is Clint Stoerner.

I believe there was also a WR back in the late 90s who came in as a rookie free agent and suffered a terrible knee injury in training camp. His name escapes me. I want to say his last name was Hodge?

Good call.

So that makes four Arkansas players in 20+ years: possibly two undrafted rookies (Stoerner and the WR (Hodge?), a first round pick (Felix Jones) and a free agent (Ken Hamlin).

I'm not sure that qualifies as an "obsession."

Sorry, obsession was too strong a word. Jerry seems to be "very intrigued" by Arkansas products whether or not he ends up drafting them.

Let's get serious here. Dallas will not be drafting first overall, so everybody get off the Luck Bandwagon cause he's going 1st overall.

Dallas will probably be picking around 8-15. If this is the case, Peterson will more then likely be gone, so I'll have no problem drafting another stud Corner, Brandon Harris. Yes, he's a dropoff from Peterson (obviously) but not by much. That guy is a BALLER if I've ever seen one.

I think Dallas will likely be drafting somewhere between 1-8.

is their any good safties in this range from 5-12 (which i think we will end up drafting as of right now) that fit the mold of todays top safties or who could develope into the next to flight safty? I think we should try some of the young guys at ball spot to see what they have, they should know the defense by now alot of teams start rookie safties. Earl Thomas, eric berry, laron landry, darius byrd. etc.

talking about taking luck is one thing but can we please stop talking about aaron rodgers as an example, the guy was taken 24th. yes he was 1st overall worthy but you dont take QBs top 5 to have them sit. if we take luck that high we would be trading romo, so those talking about wanting luck need to be talking about compensation for romo.

i dont see us ending up with the first pick but if we end up with a top 5 i think we need to do all in our power to get P Peterson, i think newman still has legs but PP on one side jenk on the other and newman in the slot could rival what they got going on up in NY(jets)

Nah, there aren't any safties in the draft worthy of that kind of slotting coming out this year.

Jerry blew it when he didn't even sniff at Antrel Rolle in free agency.

If we get a top 5 pick....

.....are there any teams out there with multiple 1st or 2nd round picks that we could deal with, and then take OL or S? Someone will be hot after AJ Green or one of the QBs...

New England. They have like 2 or 3 1st's if I'm not mistaken. But they're in need for a receiver and they have oaklands first, and that'll be a top 10 pick, so they could land Green without moving up to our spot if we are top 5.
