theres not many years we should be drafting top ten
I wouldn't unless there is clearly a QB prospect head-and-shoulders above the rest ala Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman , et cetera.
Jake Locker is raw and a struggles with accuracy and consistency. Ryan Mallett has a great frame and outstanding arm, but questions continue to come up regarding his decision making and game preparation. Andrew Luck is an intriguing prospect who might be the best of the three.
However, I could not forsee Jerry selecting a QB in the Top 4 or 5 and paying him the requisite signing bonus and salary to sit on the bench for the next two or three seasons.
I don't blame him either. I'd rather take a shot at a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, a player that needs some seasoning and development and comes at a significantly cheaper price.
Ask the 49ers about picking a QB out of need. In the '05 Draft there was no clear cut No. 1 overall type prospect. The 49ers tried but failed at trading out of the pick, instead they kept it and selected Alex Smith with the No. 1 overall.
Again, CB is an immediate need on this team.
I. They only have three CBs on the roster (not including Alan Ball)
II. Terrence Newman will be 33-years old when the season starts next year.
III. IMO, Orlando Scandrick has proven he's JAG. He needs to be challenged by another corner.
