I am thankful that we do NOT have an early Bye like we have had in the past. After our Bye we play Nov. 4th, 11th, 18th, and 22nd. Four games in 18 days, with two of those games coming 4 days apart. I love the Thanksgiving day games, but I would hate for us to get nicked up during that stretch and lose some games. Especially during the final Playoff push.

Putting aside your personal feelings on having the Thanksgiving day game, do you think it would be better for us to give up that game in the future to a rotation of all teams so that it isn't such a physical hardship on our team to play so many games in such a short period?

No, Cowboys football on Thanksgiving is a tradition. No one else wanted to play it back in the day. It belongs to us.

Except Detroit, Eddie. ;) I agree though. And why should I have to separate my personal feelings for the Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving "for the betterment of other teams". Just how much parity has to be forced down fans' throats before it's 'enough'?

A valid concern. I've heard analysts say that our team looked tired during the final stretch there, and I think we had 3 games in under two weeks last season, not positive, but I'm as concerned as you are about being worn down towards the end of the season.

Actually, I could give crap less about the partiy, I just want our team healthy for the stretch run. Having that many games in that short a period is very physically demanding. I want the best opportunity for our team and give a crap less about the other teams getting a game. It's not about giving other teams "a chance to play on Thanksgiving".

It is more physically demanding, but it's not like we do not enjoy the benefit of a longer period between the Thanksgiving game and the following game. It's almost like having an extra bye week built into the season. So, we should sacrifice that advantage for the fact that we play one game three days before the majority of the rest of the league? Uh uh.

I still wory about that short span between Washington and NYJ. Depending on how bad the Jets are at that juncture, we could rest some starters, but if we need them they are only going to have 3-4 days max off until practice starts up for Detroit.

We've been playing the Thanksgiving Day game for almost our entire football existence. Except for the rookies and newly signed FAs, this team is used to it. No question it's hard but the players also enjoy those extra 10 days after--almost like another bye week. It doesn't appear to have hurt us in the past and I enjoy seeing us as part of the traditional Thanksgiving Day festivities.

You could never talk me into giving up the Thanksgiving game. Quite frankly you would waste your time even trying.

Me too. The team usually has a ten day span between games after the Thanksgiving game, this year after the Packer game. That will allow a few days extra rest late in the season. It is a real advantage.

There are five games after Thanksgiving this year. In the 80s there were usually three. In the 90s, there were usually four.

No I don't think Thanksgiving put any strain on the team and now days with so many Thursday games many teams will be dealing with the same thing. It is a rich tradition for the Cowboys to have Thanksgiving and thankfully Jerry has held on to this as well as the 3:00 time slot on the game

I'm not sure...but I think the 90's Cowboys that won 3 SuperBowls had to play on Thanksgiving! Also the teams of the past that won the other 2 SB's played on Thankgiving, I think?

Very bad idea, Rackat!

No turkey for you!!

Okay, Okay, so call me a worry wart. It's been so dang long since that 95 team, I just don't want anything to f...mess it up. :laugh2:

I've always enjoyed the T-day games, and normally I would not even think about giving them up. But the drought has been so long. At least during the 80's we had winning seasons and playoff appearances! It was still exciting to watch. We've been getting better over the last 4 years and now we're stomping, and I don't want to see anything ruin it!

Not to worry, my friend! Nothing will ruin this team except the team itself...

Remember, these players that are out on the field are nothing but a bunch of "little cupcakes"...!!

Absolutely not, that game is a HUGE advantage for the Cowboys... first, the Boys and the Lions are the only two teams USED to playing these games on short rest, for the other teams in the league this is a once in a great while deal... and AFTER that game, they get a nice long break, not quite a bye, but some time to rest up for the stretch run...

Then you should like the 11 days between games AFTER the Thanksgiving Day game...

Perhaps you haven't noted, but there will be other teams doing the short week, Thursday game late in the season this year, just not on Thanksgiving Day...

Nope, I think you're WAY off base here... you just haven't thought this thing through... I'd be beyond pissed if the Boys gave up their traditional Thanksgiving Day game, and not just because that holiday revolves around that game for me...

"The drought" had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Boys playing on Thanksgiving Day...

What, you think the league will modify the schedule, if we complain to them?? :D
