Week 8: With the #2 selection

Maybe you can change my view on this but I believe it's a waste taking a 3-4 end/NT that high.

Not saying Dareus won't be good or help us.

well you sit him for couple years - draft some O line this year

set him for a couple years

Thats what the Packers did sat Rodgers but none of you want to do that, and look at Rodgers know

so hows Sam Bradford doing it ???? have they got a great O line

Stafford Lions have a great O line

Big difference between drafting a guy in the 20's and sitting him and drafting a guy in the top-2-3 and from day one say "he isnt going to help for 3 or 4 years"...Now if the CBA changes and there's a true rookie age scale, maybe you reconsider. But under the current system, unless Romo's injury is career threatening it makes no sense to draft the guy there and pay him that kind of money.

I watch the SEC every week, and while this guy is a good player, he's definitely not worth the 2nd pick overall to play DE in a 3-4 defense.

#2 you just take Patrick Peterson, even if he's over-valued. Buck the trend, who cares if you draft him a little high. Beats trading out and someone else grabs him then you do the Jerry Jones slide down the board until you get someone like Jason Williams.

I agree with this especially with no elite top 5 OL.

And this is how you hamstring your franchise for the future.

If you think it is justifiable in making a rookie CB likely the highest paid player at his position before he even takes a preseason snap, then I do not know about your line of thinking.

At RB, you have Steven Jackson who is the highest paid RB in the NFL, only getting $20 million guaranteed. But you are willing to go WELL above that for a player who has not played a down?

At the OL position, if there was a Jake Long or Joe Thoams in this draft, then PAY THE MAN! Unfortunately for us, there is no present lineman that has shown he is even worthy of a top 10 selection.

If this was Monopoly money, it would be alot easier for you though. :)

Any player taken #2 overall will be the highest paid player at their position, unless the player taken #1 plays the same position. And I think everyone would love to take a Joe Thomas or Jake Long, but as you said, it doesn't look like there will be one. So if you have the #2 pick, and can't trade down (very realistic) how do you propose we don't hamstring a franchise?

Not trying to give you a hard time, but reaching for a lesser player at a more important position, is actually worse than overpaying for a CB, RB or whatever.

Actually, if we draft a QB, they will not be.

But I will ask, how do you assume a QB, will be the highest paid at his position as the 2nd overall pick?

Didn't Sam Bradford get more garunteed money than any other Qb? I may be wrong, but I thought he did.
