I just wanted to check to see how our helter skelter population is feeling about Jaylon Smith this week...

I tend to believe he is starting to find his groove and improving every single week. The beast will be unleashed next year (but you will see shades of greatness down the stretch this year).

I always figured the mental part would come, my concern has always been his mobility but it’s improving. He’s going to be a heck of a contributor next yr.

i missed the game so am quite curious. less worry about the mental part coming back and the game slowing down. how is his mobility? they say he would be healing for a few more months. any plays that show good and improving turning cutting...?

I don't expect this thread to be popular because it falls into the category of humble pie for our helter skelter population... but I absolutely appreciate the genuine responses from those that see with that #ClearEyeView.

His mobility is much improved from the early season struggles. He still has a ways to go but is starting to show shades of the talent that netted him a top draft pick position.

Its hard to judge how mobile he is post injury to pre injury since looking at his ND film you are on a field of college players vs pro players now who will be quicker and faster and more mobile overall.

when u say mobility, are you talking straightline speed or change of direction.
from what i read, it seems his straightline speed recovered long ago.

well what about plays where he makes any sudden change in direction?

Like I said, trying to figure out what he has lost in that area IF anything is hard to tell. When you are comparing his college film with now the difference in the quality of players on the field is significant enough to make it virtually impossible to see.

early in the season, he did not seem to be able to change in direction at all...

I watched some all 22 early in the season and frankly I could not be sure whether it was physical or mental

now with things seeming to slow down for him I think even back then it was more mental than physical

The various doctors we have heard from on all this indicate that changing direction actually should not have been affected that much by his injury PHYSICALLY. But upstairs sometimes makes downstairs slippery.

well the nerve damage should have affect some cutting ability but the straightline speed should have been all back.
hopefully he was just running too fast for his brain to process...

Better but still many problems.
