You did not get the memo from :espn: telling us that the Cowboys suck. I know Linda Cohn and Chris Carter got there's. So it looks like you and Trent Dilfer did not receive that memo.

You mean the momo that says "Dear AMERICAS_FAN, my name is John Clayton, but you can call me God..."?

Right Florio, so the team who lost to the RAIDERS moves UP two spots due to beating the lowly Washington Deadskins, while the Cowboys convincingly beat a playoff team from last year...

I don't pay any attention to the numbers, only the comments. The comments were pretty funny.

Some funny stuff:

"So maybe the Cowboys have something in Chad Hutchinson after all."

"Maybe Troy Hambrick does deserve to play more, but he shouldn't be calling out Emmitt Smith in public." --Hambrick, wonder what that bumb is doing now.

"Bill Parcells is a great coach, but if the Cowboys hire him they'll just be looking for a new guy in two or three years."

"If Quincy Carter can limit his mistakes, the Cowboys will beat the Panthers on Saturday."

"Looks like the Cowboys knew what they were doing when the traded down and picked Julius Jones. If they'd had him all year they'd be a playoff team right now."

"Drew Henson for the rest of the season? Not much to be thankful for in Dallas, but if Henson gets the nod, at least Cowboys fans can get to see if there's something to look forward to in the future."

"The Cowboys aren't going to win too many games when they have to pass the ball 51 times"

"They've already jettisoned two kickers this season. Billy Cundiff could be the third if he misses another 34-yarder in the fourth quarter."

"Second time this season the Cowboys have flat-out blown a game at the end. Bill Parcells isn't going to be any fun to be around this week." - A trend

"It's just one week, but Cowboys fans (and Bill Parcells) have to be pretty excited about the start of the Drew Bledsoe era." --oh we were so hopeful

"Not to get ahead of ourselves -- well, OK, we are -- but if the Cowboys reach the Super Bowl, just four players will have prior experience on the NFL's biggest stage: Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson, backup QB Brad Johnson and injured WR Terry Glenn."

lost of other good stuff in those old power rankings. fun reads, brings back some memoires, some are good.

...and moved up four spots. So what? Do you really hang your hat on these power rankings? They're just one person's opinion. The Eagles were ranked ahead of us last week, even after losing to the Raiders. They moved up, as did most of the teams that won, to fill in the gaps of the teams in last week's bottom half of the top 10 that lost (Atlanta dropped 6 spots, the Bears dropped 7).

Dallas' move in the rankings was still statistically greater than Philly's. Does that make you happy?

We're still ranked 22nd on defense and that's not acceptable!

Just like letting Atlanta score a garbage TD is not acceptable.

Cut them all. They suck. Unacceptable. In fact the next guy to misses a tackle should be cut on the spot.

Nah I just really dislike Florio's work. He's a smart you know what and thinks he knows everything about football when he probably hasn't played a down...

You should have been in the chat room after the Falcons scored 1 touchdown. People were calling for the franchise to be folded :laugh1:

I'm waiting for someone to create an emoticon of Jerry Jones hanging in effigy.

I have to admit I was a little nervous myself, but we pulled it together for the best win this season. Hats off to the coaches and players for stepping up.

So, how many notches down the Power Rankings did Dallas fall? You know, now that we proved that Atlanta was never a "for real" team by beating them. And clearly the Giants should catapult upward, because they're obviously saving their strength for the stretch-run by strategically losing their last two games. I mean, has a team ever executed fottblall strategy better than that team? All they do is executre so well! And boy oh boy, those Eagles...WOW...not only winning on the road, but on Monday Night no less! Man, that should count for at least 2 ticks up the Power Rankings for sure!
This would be really hilarious if it wasn't true.

But the sarcasm dripping from it still deserves a :laugh2:

You nailed it, .. he is a lawyer in the dinky little town of Clarksburg, WV. I know they guy.

WV has no NFL team in the state, how did he become such a trusted NFL source?

And guarantee he never played a down.

But you have to give him a ton of credit, he started a freaking web site, .. and now has parlayed that in to a desk job on NBC pre-game or something like that.

Only in America.

Just for fun (since technically we have to count them all) drop that turd of a tampa game and where would that put the Cowboys defense? Reason I say that is because a team looking at their defensive ranking say vs the run would be in for a very rude awaking thinking they could dominate the line based on that statistic. :laugh2:

doesn't matter anyway... dallas is giving up less than 20 points per game which is the real goal.

we average about 18 yards more per game on offense than the colts... but score 3 less points per game... which offense is better?

fwiw we are 10th in scoring offense and 14th in scoring defense.

Because you asked for it, and because you love it oh so much...

2009 Power Rankings: Week 8
RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT
1 (1) Colts 6-0-0 Can the 49ers and Frank Gore provide more of a challenge than recent opponents? (Kuharsky)
2 (2) Saints 6-0-0 The Saints have shown they can win games several ways. That makes them tough to beat. (Sando)
3 (4) Broncos 6-0-0 Coming off a bye, the Broncos have had plenty of time to prepare for trip to Baltimore. (Kuharsky)
4 (3) Vikings 6-1-0 Brett Favre threw 51 passes against Pittsburgh. That's way too many attempts for a team with Adrian Peterson. (Chadiha)
5 (6) Patriots 5-2-0 The Titans and Bucs gave the Patriots two nice exhibition games before the bye week. (Clayton)
6 (9) Bengals 5-2-0 Why aren't people saying more about Cedric Benson's season? (Chadiha)
7 (8) Steelers 5-2-0 Four straight victories prove they are back on track. (Chadiha)
8 (5) Giants 5-2-0 The loss of safety Kenny Phillips had a much bigger effect on the Giants' secondary than many want to admit. (Clayton)
9 (19) Cowboys 4-2-0 DeMarcus Ware is the Cowboys' $78 million man, and Miles Austin is playing like a $78 million man. (Clayton)
10 (16) Cardinals 4-2-0 The victory over the Giants on Sunday gave Arizona a good chance to finish with a winning record on the road. (Sando)
11 (7) Falcons 4-2-0 Will the Falcons ever get Michael Turner on track this season? They need more from him. (Sando)
12 (12) Eagles 4-2-0 In Oakland, the Eagles giveth. In Washington, they taketh away. (Clayton)
13 (13) Packers 4-2-0 The best news of the season: The Packers went an entire game without allowing a sack. (Chadiha)
14 (11) Ravens 3-3-0 The Week 7 bye came at a perfect time for a team that needs to regain its momentum. (Chadiha)
15 (18) Jets 4-3-0 Mark Sanchez showed great hot-dog security in not fumbling the dog he ate in the second half of the win over the Raiders on Sunday. (Clayton)
16 (14) Chargers 3-3-0 Perhaps a beatdown of one of the league's weaklings will spark a bit of a revival. (Kuharsky)
17 (17) Texans 4-3-0 If the Texans beat host Buffalo, they'll have a 5-3 record for the first time ever. (Kuharsky)
18 (10) Bears 3-3-0 The Bears are 1-3 on the road this season. That doesn't bode well for their future. (Chadiha)
19 (20) Dolphins 2-4-0 Poor secondary play has the Dolphins' season in the Miami vise. (Clayton)
20 (15) 49ers 3-3-0 Alex Smith and Michael Crabtree renew interest in the 49ers as they try to revive the offense. (Sando)
21 (21) Jaguars 3-3-0 The newest challenge for a young, learning team: handling a rematch against a squad (Tennessee) it's already beaten. (Kuharsky)
22 (24) Bills 3-4-0 Between the Jets and Panthers giving away games, Dick Jauron must feel as though Christmas came early for the Bills. (Clayton)
23 (23) Seahawks 2-4-0 How much fight do the Seahawks have in them? They'll need more to overcome injuries. (Sando)
24 (22) Panthers 2-4-0 Even if the Panthers bench Jake Delhomme, they're paying starter money for him. (Sando)
25 (27) Commanders 2-5-0 Apparently, Sherman Lewis added a new call to the Commanders' playbook: fumble. (Clayton)
26 (26) Lions 1-5-0 The Lions can thank the schedule-makers. They come off a bye to face the winless Rams. (Chadiha)
27 (25) Raiders 2-5-0 Could Oakland have followed up a surprise win over Philly with a worse showing against the Jets? (Kuharsky)
28 (28) Chiefs 1-6-0 A time to rest and possibly regroup for the one-win Chiefs. (Kuharsky)
29 (30) Titans 0-6-0 Tennessee's coach has promised lineup/ playing-time changes, but he also declined to say whether they're major ones. (Kuharsky)
30 (29) Browns 1-6-0 They gained 139 total yards in the loss to Green Bay on Sunday and gave up 460. Enough said. (Chadiha)
31 (31) Buccaneers 0-7-0 With nine games left, is it too soon to hand over the offense to rookie Josh Freeman? (Sando)
32 (32) Rams 0-7-0 Nothing the Rams do seems to produce the desired results, as Will Witherspoon proved. (Sando)

Last week we were 19th? And now we're 9th?

ESPN jumped on that bandwagon REAL fast.
