Aside from Zach Martin, I think I'm more intrigued by our undrafted free agents than our draft class. Marinelli's success with Melton inspires confidence in his ability to develop Chris Whaley. Whaley and L'Damian Washington make for an interesting UDFA haul.

I'm even excited to see Dustin Vaughan get some preseason action. I know he's a D2 player, but the ball really comes off Vaughan's hand with more velocity than most D1 QBs. It will be interesting to see if he can stick on the practice squad and eventually become our backup.

•Avoid the low block, stays to the outside. Fight down the line. Lines up at both the one and three. Some initial quickness off the snap on the slant. Gets hands up in lanes.

•Does a nice job playing with leverage. Holds the gap. Uses a slap and rip to get up the field. Needs to be more aware of the down block. Good when he can extend his hands and can control the blocker. Can redirect back inside.
•Great effort to chase the ball. There were times where he needs to get rid of the blockers quicker. Stands in one spot. Had a pick six on a fire zone drop against Oklahoma, was in perfect position to catch the ball.
•Would like to see more pass rush moves. Push is through power only right now. When he wants to come off the ball can bring the quick arm over move.
•Nice sack against TCU, where he was able to get the edge and work around the blocker, was able to keep after quarterback and worked him to the ground. Will throw his body around when he gets in space. Will work back to the ball, can change direction. Played much better in the Oklahoma and TCU games, can be active and disruptive inside.

He's a drinking buddy of mine from college. He is the UDFA I am most excited about. Potential Melton 2.0. Marinelli is going to do wonders with him. Lord knows he didn't get very good coaching at UT.

I did not realize it until just now. I think he is the kid that got hurt during the WVU/Texas game and was carted off the field.

That's him BP. He was having a decent season up to that point. Was a FB in 2012 so what he's done in 2013 is really just the tip of the iceberg.

That's great to hear, it definitely sounds like he will be on another level with coaching, weight work and just by getting reps at the position.

Like others have said, the injury is unfortunate but it gives Dallas the perfect way to develop him for a year without taking up a roster spot. I was hoping he would be one of our 7th round picks, I love getting him as a UDFA.

I like his quickness, agility, speed, and size. Small sample size though. We didn't see his lowlights.
