QB with the first pick.

We can move up a bit into earlier pick in the second round. Look at the potential QBs coming out. We can have him sit behind Romo for 2-3 years, train him up, and if he is hot-stuff trade him off for a 1st (if we are not forced to use him a la Tom Brady injury to Romo).

1. Mathew Stafford, 6' 3" 220, Georgia*
2. Tim Tebow, 6' 3" 232, Florida*
3. Curtis Painter, 6' 3" 224, Purdue
4. Cullen Harper, 6' 3" 215, Clemson
5. Mark Sanchez, 6' 3" 225, USC*
6. Hunter Cantwell, 6' 4" 230, Louisville
7. Todd Boeckman, 6' 4" 233, Ohio State
8. Graham Harrell, 6' 2" 203, Texas Tech
9. Chase Daniel, 5' 11" 225, Missouri

and don't forget Rhett Bomar and Juice Williams as well.

erm... you don't take a backup QB with our 1st pick in the draft... That pick is for someone who is suppose to be a starter. Maybe in the 4th or 5th round, but not our 1st pick in the draft. That would be foolish.

Kinda like the Packers selecting Brohm in the second while still having Aaron Rodgers. I think the second (which does happen to be our first pick certainly) is the ideal place to obtain a back-up/future starter at this vital position. The CBA will push a LOT of players into the draft in '09. I find it likely that we can get an excellent player in 2009. Way better than typical for the second round at least.

I realize we DO have other needs. O-Line stands out in my mind. I just really hate our recent history of 2nd and 3rd round O-Line picks.

Your mileage may vary.

Safety is a much bigger need than a backup qb. Hamlin is only signed for this season and after him we have Brown, Watkins and Davis.

Henry moving to safety isn't going to help either. He can't stay healthy and he's too slow. Plus I'll be shocked if he comes back next year. I think he's done in Dallas.

I'd look in free agency this year.

This is the worst year ever to draft a QB.

I also see Tim Tebow on your list and that guy is going to take yeeeaaars to turn into an NFL QB. He'll go 3rd round.

I thought Hamlin signed a long term deal??? I do think Roy is gone after this year and Hamlin will be moved to SS. I think Watkins and Brown will probably battle it out for the FS job.

I don't see it as a top priority, but I think QB's should be looked at every year in the draft, regardless of the current QB situation. This year's crop isn't so hot, but there might be a diamond in there somewhere.

Hamlin did sign a long term contract. You want to put Chris Simms on that list since he is on a one year deal at Tennessee and if they don't resign him he will be a free agent plus supposedly Garrett likes his techniques.

I would look at the draft as being a QB, WR, S, OL, LB, DE. Remember Canty is on a one year deal, Spears contract is up after next year and Ellis is nearing the end. Also Colombo contract is up and Kosier will be on his last year.

We should be active in free agency just a matter of who. Plus Owens and Williams are a good tandem but on Austin has stepped up behind them so someone to groom as the #2 is needed.

I wait until Colt McCoy comes out, either this year or next and then I grab him as fast as I can.......then, I take Jordan Shipley in the middle rounds.

Both are coaches sons and have high football IQs. They have great chemistry on and off the field. It would be a perfect tandem to bring in.

However, I feel more pressing needs along the OL, S, and MLB positions.

Safety, ILB, and adding some o-lineman are all priorities over backup qb for me. I might put NT in there too ahead of qb.

You grab a qb in the later rounds to develop.

Disagree Safety is about the same as QB IMO. I think DLine needs an upgrade and ILB

Positions we dont need TE, WR, RB

I see our priorities as OLB, DE ILB, CB(depending on PacMan), S, OL

Since I see Elllis here maybe one more year and in the Giants mode, we need other OLB to replace Spencer when Spencer replaces Ellis

DE is a need for backup and possible replacment

ILB is a need due to Zack's age and Carpenter's lack of ability

CB is a need more so if Pacman is gone

I think Henry can go to FS and Hamlin can go to SS for the short term at least

Just my take for now

Does this website have any reason as to why Crabtree isn't on the list if not it loses all credibility and Tebow as the #1 QB??? .......

Didn't say I agreed and as a Texas Tech Alum - I am in total agreement with you DaBoys4life - but it is what it is - a list I found on line from scout.com
nothing more - nothing less. However Crabtree hasn't said whether he's jumping to the NFL or not I would assume that it is taking that into consideration - as well as his sophomore status on the team.

That said (at the risk of angerering some in our chat room) Get your guns up!!!

Thankfully you have nothing to do with the Cowboys draft.

We wont have a shot at Colt. Hes going 1st round and we should be pimp slapped if we spend a #1 on a QB.

The way teams like to run this wildcat formation I wouldn't be surprised if he is a situation QB his entire career.

He may also get moved to LineBacker.

If he wants to be an NFL QB it will take a long time to get him adjusted. His mechanicss are just awful.

He is a modern day Option Quarterback.
