We'll be lucky to end the season 6-10 if we continue the way we are.

Using the same offensive gameplan every week.

Playing zone on defense when our weakness is against the pass.

I feel that our defense will improve as the year progresses, but our offensive gameplanning is horrible.

It consists of running Julius up the middle over and over and on 3rd and long throwing the ball two yards short of the 1st down marker. Oh yea...and the weekly trick play.

And when we find ourselves down in the 4th we start opening up the playbook and we are...*gasp*...successful?

We don't use counter plays. We don't use draw plays. We don't use toss plays. We don't run to the outside at all. Why? Our running backs are speed backs. The one power back we have isn't even dressed come Sunday.

We don't have the best players on the field. Sit Barber and dress Thomas.

Stop throwing the ball to Julius. He can't catch.

I feel Parcells finally realizes this. I see us attacking Philly this weekend. First play of the game should be a deep pass to either Glenn or Price. We sure as hell ain't going to run on them, especially if our offensive line plays the way it did yesterday.

That's just stupid analysis. We are 2 and 2 after starting the season with 3 road games in Cali. We played well in both losses. We are playing a ton of young guys -- they are learning every week and we are starting to see them show something (Canty this week especially).

Is it the plays? No. When your all-pro LT wiffs on an important block it isn't the play, it is the player. When a rookie RB tries to make a big play instead of just powering up the gut for the first down, it is the player.

It's the plays. You don't use the same gameplan every week. Period.

You don't give a rookie running back the ball on 3rd down. Especially a rookie that has done nothing to show he is capable of getting the 1st down.

You don't base your gameplan on the run when the team you are playing is strong against the run and weak against the pass.

We barely beat a 49er team that got whooped by the Cardinals.

And while I agree that our defense will get better, it won't matter if our offense keeps playing scared. It won't matter if Mike Zimmer is still the coordinator, either.

We are 2-2 when we should be 4-0. Because of cowardly playcalling we lost to the Commanders and we lost to the Raiders. After beating the Chargers I was sure we would be 4-0 right now because I never thought our coaches would lose us games.

It all starts at the top.

Stop making sense, abersonc.

It's hilarious, yet sad seeing the "gloom and doomers" continually spouting off negative rants only after four games. Not to mention this team has a plethoria of rookies and a completely new defensive scheme to work through.

How many people are going to keep "spouting off" about how young our defense is when IT WASN'T OUR DEFENSE THAT LOST THE GAME?

It isn't doom and gloom. It's the truth. Spin it however you want because it won't change a damn thing. When we are 2-4 after getting our butts handed to us by Philly and New York maybe you'll understand. Until then keep believing that it was our defense that lost us the Commander game and the Raiders game. It wasn't.

Actually its not that stupid, after 36 regular season games in the past 3 seasons (including this one) the cowboys are just 18-18, this particular trend suggests an 8-8 finish. Not saying this is what's going to happen but that's where the evidence points to.

So the defense didn't give up 14 points in 3 minutes against Washington?

Phew, I thought we had lost that game....

Lamont Jordan and 122 yards rushing??? Randy Moss and his 79 yard reception in the 1st Quarter? Those things didn't contribute to us losing the game???

It is doom and gloom. You've already chalked up losses to the Giants and Eagles before the games have been played. Keep "spouting off"...this is a discussion board. It's funny how none of you want to say how we beat the Chargers in their stadium and here they have polished off the Giants and Patriots in the last two weeks.

Consider the season is SIXTEEN games long, not FOUR. Then maybe you'll understand how the NFL really works instead of calling a season over only a quarter of the way into it.

Yep...it was a real shocker that 13 points wasn't enough. Sitting on a 13 point lead for most of the game was real smart. Yep.

I guess it just won't get through to some of you. We never should have had to worry about them coming back. Our cowardly playcalling lost us that game. Playing for FGs with a kicker that isn't so good and playing dink and dunk all day long sure helped us.

Yep.

It wasn't the defense.

So you think we are going to beat Philly using the same offensive gamplan we used against the Raiders, huh?

Right.

We may beat the Eagles if our coaches decide to show some creativity, but if we go out next week using the same gameplan we lose by 20. At least.

I have my opinion and you have yours. Simple as that. You don't like it, show me something that will change it.

I think we are firmly entrenched in our respective camps. Let's see how the season plays out to find out who was right and who wasn't. Fair?

If had told you that we would be up in that game by 13 points - whether its 13-0 or 53-40 - with 5 minutes left to play and Mark Brunell as QB you would have taken that in a heartbeat.

Furthermore, without a holding call on Flo, or any number of other bad plays like it we would have iced that game easy. The players didn't execute.

The coaches put the team in a position to win by limiting mistakes and not taking stupid gambles against a top NFL defense. Then our defense basically gave away two TDs to an absolutely horrible offense.

Yes, it was the defense.

You never sit on a lead. The coaches lost the game. Not the defense.

Did the coaches overthrow an open Keyshawn in the end zone?

Did the coaches miss the gimme FG?

Did the coaches nullify a 17 yard plass completion to Key by holding?

Did the coaches drop an interception that hit Roy in the facemask?

Did the coaches run a 3 yard route on 4th and 4?

If they decide to not 'sit on a lead' and open up the game plan, and Drew throws a pick for a TD and that's why we lose the game instead of a Santana Moss bomb, are you here the next day saying "Well, at least we were throwing the ball!"

Or complaining that Washington hadn't moved the ball for 56 minutes of play so why are we taking chances?

I have my guess.

You don't assume anything. You don't sit on a lead. The dropped interception, the holding that negated Keyshawn's catch, the 3 yard route on 4th and 4 wouldn't have mattered if we would have played more aggressive offense during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters. We should have been winning 27-0 going into those final minutes.

What I'm trying to say is that we never should have lost that game. We should not have been up by 13, we should have been up by 20...at least.

But you are the one who is assuming.

You are saying that if we had only thrown the ball more we would have been up by more points. That's simply not an accurate statement.

You don't know what would have happened, because you are exposing Bledsoe more to a very good defense with a very good pass rush. For all we know throwing the ball more would have led to 3 or 4 more sacks, a fumble and a pick or two. We could have actually *given* points to the Commanders when it looked like their offense certainly wasn't going to provide any.

As you say, you don't assume anything.
