Met him at the team hotel tonight... he couldn't stop thanking fans and telling us "We're going to give you guys a good show tomorrow."

You can if you harbor irrational hatred for the man.NextGenBoys;3173084 said:You cant help but love the positivity and enthusiasm he brings about the Cowboys...even if he is an ultimate salesman.

He has grown in the position of GM and has made some great player acquisitions in recent years. Jerry has also taken a stadium vision and turned it into a reality, so he is also a developer.
A number of fans derisively call him a salesman when in reality all of us are salesmen and saleswomen and contribute to the process in our every day life and work.
Kids sell their requests to their parents. Parents sell their guidance to their kids. Teachers sell their subjects to their students. Guys sell themselves to prospective girlfriends and vice versa. Same with breaking the ice with sex.
Candidates sell themselves during interviews. A resume is a brochure. Employers sell themselves and their companies to desirable prospective employees as well. Politicians are salesmen. So are spiritual leaders. So are doctors and lawyers. Think about it.
We are in the forum selling ourselves as knowledgeable fans and our perceptions to each other. Convincing and making points is a form of selling. This is a communication commodity and indicator of living in a reasonably free and flexible society. I can go on and on.
The difference between us and Jerry is that he can sell at a greater magnitude with greater visibility. So why are we turning our nose up to Jerry when he simply does what we all do in our own individual worlds. It's freaking natural and it beats the alternative of operating in a monoclastic economy and or society.
Ok, I will get off the soap box now.
In 20 years he never has tried to.Eddie;3173152 said:He can sell whatever he wants, as long as he stays out of trying to coach the team.

Gotta agree with you on this. Not one of his former coaches has ever maintained he tries to coach the team or sends in plays, etc. Yet we still hear it like it is some kind of factor. You're telling me not one of those guys has an axe to grind? I find that rather convenient. He may see the GM role as more important than the HC role. I am pretty sure he does and that is what led to ill will between him and Jimmy. There has never been any proof to the allegations he wants to coach. Not one shred, yet the drums still beat.cowboyed;3173185 said:In my near 30 years of being an involved Cowboys football fan the stereotypical, cheap shot accusation of Jerry trying to coach is the most disappointing.
Jerry is far from perfect and at times arrogance and ignorance may have gotten in the way but he has done more positive things in the role of owner and manager than negative. He also has improved on the job.
I don't know of any owner and or GM with as much time in the league as Jerry that have avoided making any mistakes that did not negatively impact their team at times.
