Well... Jerry's PUMPED!

Gotta agree with you on this. Not one of his former coaches has ever maintained he tries to coach the team or sends in plays, etc. Yet we still hear it like it is some kind of factor. You're telling me not one of those guys has an axe to grind? I find that rather convenient. He may see the GM role as more important than the HC role. I am pretty sure he does and that is what led to ill will between him and Jimmy. There has never been any proof to the allegations he wants to coach. Not one shred, yet the drums still beat.
I don't have a real clue one way or the other, but Drew Henson Turkey Day 2004 has always seemed like a Jerry decision to me.

Jerry is the best owner in the entire NFL and he takes alot of crap from fans that is not deserved.

Not to be too blunt about it, but the man has sunk hundreds of millions of dollars of his own money into the team to provide "Sunday entertainment" to the fans. Now if somebody feels they can do a better job of running the team, they are free to step up and make Jerry an offer.

Great owner, lousy GM.

Maybe it was, but Parcells purposely set Henson up for failure in that game. He ran the ball straight ahead on first and second down, leaving Henson with third and long against the Chicago blitz. A no win situation for what amounted to a Rookie QB.

Parcell's, with a little help from himself, proven his point and then reinserted Vinny, called plays the way he should have called them, and we got the win.

Parcells was a master of psychology.

I was in no way a Hensonite but the kid did not stand a chance in that game.

Jerry is going to be freaking pissed if we get beat tommorow. Probably seals Wade's fate it that happens.

So What! get ready for 5 crappy years with Jason Garrett....

If we can get up early on them by two or more tds I think they we will implode.

The wrong team is teetering on disorder, for this to happen...the Cowboys are on an inside straight with all the motivation in the world now.

And, Jerry Jones is much better than just OK...

Until I hear this from Bill Parcells I am going to doubt the veracity of it. I too have these suspicions, but that doesn't make them true.

I do agree that Jerry is the best owner in sports. He almost always puts the performance of the team above his own profit. And while he may not literally coach, he does nudge/influence.

We saw it earlier this year when he opined in a press article that Felix needed to get the ball more. He did. Henson starting over Vinny on Thanksgiving, 2004, is but another example.

So while Jerry doesn't try to 'coach', he definitely meddles. I have no complaints lately as all the meddling seems to help these days.

I hope the team is as fired up as Jerry is. Until and unless the Giants lose, we are effectively in the playoffs now.

You can if you harbor irrational hatred for the man.

I don't know that it's irrational hatred towards Jerry. I think it's more a question of irrational hatred towards losing.

:laugh2:

This can't be true, we all know that Parcells was in charge and had the final say in all decisions concerning the Cowboys.

BTW, if this is true, does it mean that Parcells was Jerry's puppet? ;)

If that decision had Jerry's input in any respect, it was certainly rescinded by Parcells after halftime when Henson continued to struggle and Testaverde was sent in to replace him.

I believe Henson's stuggles that day had much to do about the OL play. Andre Gurode, who was playing guard, was keeping Tommie Harris at bay until he sprained his ankle. Tyson Walter was then inserted in Gurode's place and got beat like a drum under the pressure Harris applied. I think Henson's interception by McQuarters for a TD to tie the game before the half had lots to do with the decision. Impulse throws always got under Parcells' skin.

By saying all that, I wouldn't doubt Jerry has at least a little input from time to time on his possible player ROI from time to time.
