The Cowboys have reportedly offered extensions to keep three defensive assistant coaches that Sporano is trying to take with him to Miami. Those would be (1) secondary coach Todd Bowles, (2) linebackers coach Paul Pasqualoni and (3) defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers.
Hmmm, aren't these guys all Parcells guys??? Hmmm, Imagine that!
So personally, I hope we lose them all and have to hire a whole new defensive staff that can finally bring in a kileer instinct (based on pass-rushing the daylights out of offenses and covering well underneath).
So Sporano (and let’s not kid ourselves, it’s really Parcells) can have his passive coaches back, because what I saw in 2007 was a Cowboys team that saw the majority of its improvements on the offensive side of the ball. And it’s no coincidence that all of Parcells' offensive coaches (except for Sporano) were replaced with new blood. It was the defense that many times in 2007 resembled the passive defense of Parcells’ past units, and it's not unrealistic to point to Parcells' defensive throwback coaches to explain why.
Even the December slide of the offense in 2007, and especially its playoff performance, was laced with many traces of Parcells’ past offensive units, making me wonder that Sporano had his hands into much of it, more and more down the stretch. Personally, I find it very suspicious how the Garrett-esque innovations on offense - like lining receivers in unusual spots, complex shifting, and unpredictable backfield sets – seemed to disappear down the stretch and were replaced with the usual “vanilla” formations and plays that were as predictable as Sporano’s and Parcells’ units of past seasons.
So to all the Parcells throwback coaches (Sporano included) I say "SEE-YA! I hope you go – PLEASE!”
