Well, look on the bright side about Jerry Jones. He's not the worst FO in the league. Firstly, we have a really good squad that he helped build. Secondly, let's look at some FOs who are worse. Yes, it could be much worse:

Bears - The Bears are an absolute disgrace. They have a solid QB in Fields, and they have practically killed them. They traded for a WR last year who couldn't want to leave Chicago more quickly. Their last few coaches have been horrible. All in all, disgrace to Chicago.

The Giants - Yes, the Giants. Honestly, they have been so inept, it's not even funny of late.......well, as a Cowboys fan, it's hilarious, but you get my point. Imagine paying $40 mil for Daniel Jones. Need I say more? Honestly, they must've bribed the scriptmakers to get in the playoffs last year.

Denver - did they make a deal to win their last SB? They have been terrible and can't even make the playoffs since Peyton left. Being bought by Walmart hasn't made them more competitive. It has just left them as a bargain brand doormat to most teams.

Browns - I live in Cleveland, and yeah, they're not great. Deshaun Watson........I'll leave it at that.

There are plenty others, these are just 4 examples. Like I said, it could be worse.

"Not the worse" isn't exactly the standard that has been set for this franchise. It is not indicative of the Cowboys legacy.

In 29 seasons, the management team of Tex Schramm, Bil Brandt, and Tom Landry produced teams that resulted in 20 consecutive winning seasons, 12 conference championship games, 5 Super Bowls and 2 championships. They built this franchise from scratch. They didn't even get to draft players before their first season.

If the Cowboys weren't winning championships, they were the team that had to be defeated in order to get there. In other franchise's "Golden Age", their historic games were the times they actually beat the Cowboys. They were team like.....The Steelers....the 49ers.....Washington....Cowboys fans loved them and other NFL fans loved to hate "America's team"

All of this was built before Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys. Over 30 years later, he is still making money based on that past.

Jerry's greatest achievement and the one that put him in the Hall of Fame was his ability to make money for himself and for all the owners of the other teams. The franchise is the "most valuable" of all professional franchise sports.

Where did he get all this money? He got it from you and me. Jerry Jones was honored in the HOF for the degree to which he deceived the fans of the Dallas Cowboys. He still does it to this day.

The predatory methods he uses for ticket purchases has practically banished "Joe Fan" from his stadium. Corporate sales means that tickets go out as a "reward" or "job perk" to some who would not attend otherwise. In fact, they often go out to fans of the Cowboys opponent that week. I've seen it firsthand. That effects the ability of the crowd to influence both teams.

Lately, he's been getting some things right. Many times he's just been plain lucky. Remember, he wanted Johnny Manziel. Instead , he got Zack Martin. He wanted Paxton Lynch. He got Dak Prescott. He wanted Pat Surtain. He got Micah Parsons.

He hired football experts that were willing to trade credit and job titles for more money. He's got some good ones. However, NFL GM's get a window. Granted, it's longer than a HC's. Still, it's a window. By my count, Jerry is working through his 4th window.

It's only natural that such an extensive amount of experience would elevate him to the status of "not the worse".

OP with all due respect you are helpless
Why? Bc he's pointing out that there are positives in the way that the team has been managed vs other teams?

It's ok to see the good that has come from Jerry as owner, it's also ok to criticize a lot of the crap too...

Rusty is a balanced poster who also tries to see the positives

Exactly, I've ripped Jerry where necessary, and I've credited him where necessary.

This Cowboys are a fully stand on their own team, comparable to any team in the NFL. That deserves no asterik to deserve respect upon its own two legs.

This fan isn't listening to any insultive comparisons for what is on the table here and now. No other team receives that insultive comparison, especially being as strong as Dallas is here. Hell, an asteroid could wipe out Dallas, but I'm not holding my breath for that also. (for the non-stop fly by reasons to explain continually the respect that should just given the Cowboys. No apologies are needed for being strong enough to realistically compete to the playoff seasons. Two straight 12 win seasons and the 3rd going down here and now.

No more butts in the mean time...(not at your OP)...

if one needs hand holding and holy water to alleviate fears...we'll email the Pope.

I guess when we can't be the best or top 5 or whatever, we have to settle for "we are not the worst"...that's not even a consolation prize.

Jerry builds rosters with the intent to stay competitive and to draw media attention (relevant and interesting) and has admitted as much. Going after championships isn't the goal and hasn't been for a very long time.

And you say he isn't that bad? The franchise will be in a better place when he is up there playing fantasy football with Al Davis.

The Giants especially. Look at the draft capital they spend on offensive lineman in the past 5 years. They're not just bad, they're a disgrace. 11 Sacks last night. Are we talking football? Or a Mike McCarthy shopping cart?

The Patriots haven't done too well in the draft over the years either. Whoever Jerry has scouting these rookies, they're doing a great job. Some of it is luck too.
