It's funny. If we are losing, Jerry sucks. If we are winning Jerry's not a bad owner.
for some yes, for many of us that try to be pragmatic we see both ends. Jerry deserves both praise and criticism and not always in equal amounts.

Although, i will say right now this team has shown the most consistency over any 3 year period we have seen since 1995 and there has to be credit due to Jerry for a part of that.

There is nothing positive to say after 25 years of the "same show"
thats a silly statement and unfortunate that you can't recognize right now that this team has shown the most consistency of any 3 year period since 1995.

Not acknowledging that fact means you are blinding yourself due to being bitter for the lack of success since 1995, which is your perogative. However, stating its the same show does not accuratly describe how this team has developed since Jerry hired MM and the results are showing in the regular season (and in the WC last year), and hopefully we see a deeper run this year

This Cowboys are a fully stand on their own team, comparable to any team in the NFL. That deserves no asterik to deserve respect upon its own two legs.

This fan isn't listening to any insultive comparisons for what is on the table here and now. No other team receives that insultive comparison, especially being as strong as Dallas is here. Hell, an asteroid could wipe out Dallas, but I'm not holding my breath for that also. (for the non-stop fly by reasons to explain continually the respect that should just given the Cowboys. No apologies are needed for being strong enough to realistically compete to the playoff seasons. Two straight 12 win seasons and the 3rd going down here and now.

No more butts in the mean time...(not at your OP)...

if one needs hand holding and holy water to alleviate fears...we'll email the Pope.

Well, it helps that this was meant as a humuorous way to point out to those that say that Jerry is the worst that he really isn't.

Doesn't matter, they didn't have a salary cap.
They didn't need a freakin' salary cap because they didn't have free agency. The Cowboys had 20 consecutive winning seasons and that meant drafting in the bottom 3rd for 20 consecutive years. They were good at it because they were the first to use computers to evaluate players and because they always traded players for draft value.

If anyone here thinks the Cowboys were successful in the 70's because Tex Schramm was generous with the contracts then they didn't do an ounce of research. Tex was always a tough negotiator because he knew the players could not negotiate with any other team in the NFL.

Whether or not they had a salary cap has zero to do with the issue. If you think that the current teams can't repeat the success of the first 29 years then I simply point to last Sunday's opponent. If you prefer, we could talk about the Kansas City Chiefs or Pittsburgh Steelers. I have counted three occasions in franchise history where Jerry Jones would have been fired as GM if he hadn't been the owner.

So in other words it's not applicable to today's environment

My friend, you will see that this "show" will end the same way in failure and dissapointment.
I am fully convinced that this team will NEVER -and yes I MARK NEVER,- win anything significant let al one a super bowl under Jerry Jones management

You're the one with the semantics on why there wasn't a salary cap. I don't know your point.

The way they built teams then makes it an irrelevant comparison to now.
So what?

As I pointed out, there are still teams today that were as successful as the earlier Cowboys teams which proves it can be done. I named three teams that are doing it or already did it.

The Cowboys haven't been to a conference championship game in 27 years. Tom Landry was fired six years after his last conference championship game.

Well, look on the bright side about Jerry Jones. He's not the worst FO in the league. Firstly, we have a really good squad that he helped build. Secondly, let's look at some FOs who are worse. Yes, it could be much worse:

Bears - The Bears are an absolute disgrace. They have a solid QB in Fields, and they have practically killed them. They traded for a WR last year who couldn't want to leave Chicago more quickly. Their last few coaches have been horrible. All in all, disgrace to Chicago.

The Giants - Yes, the Giants. Honestly, they have been so inept, it's not even funny of late.......well, as a Cowboys fan, it's hilarious, but you get my point. Imagine paying $40 mil for Daniel Jones. Need I say more? Honestly, they must've bribed the scriptmakers to get in the playoffs last year.

Denver - did they make a deal to win their last SB? They have been terrible and can't even make the playoffs since Peyton left. Being bought by Walmart hasn't made them more competitive. It has just left them as a bargain brand doormat to most teams.

Browns - I live in Cleveland, and yeah, they're not great. Deshaun Watson........I'll leave it at that.

There are plenty others, these are just 4 examples. Like I said, it could be worse.
I agree. We trash Jerry every chance we get and I am just as guilty of it. Him along with his staff have done a nice job with the roster. Lets hope it is good enough along with the coaching to get us where we want to go.

We get the best soundbites from our owner/gm. No other comes close.
Side rant: The new schedule release format is right up Jones' alley. They are very expressive. Jones took full advantage of this year's version, putting himself in a Yellowstone setting.

Jones talks too much and lacks imagination for really capitalizing on it. Next time, he should wear the Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) mask from Silence of the Lambs, have himself wheeled out to the center of AT&T Stadium, and stand his first-born beside him to read each week's matchup.

Billy Crystal did something similar for the '92 Academy Awards ceremony. It is still one of the most famous moments in Oscar history.
