Owens would of never been supportive of a 60-40 run to pass ratio. We are turning our philosphy around to a run base offense. If you look at our team the strength of it is at running back. I think its as simple as that. Is it smart?

The one thing that concerns me is everytime we tried to run the ball the last two seasons with a one reciever, 3 te set, we always got stuffed. It was always the gimmick formations where we gained some yards on the ground, the 3 reciever/one te set and we run a draw on 3rd and 7 for 20 yards. I dont know if this is smart; I dont think we have the personel on the oline. Opinions

What's the likelihood that teams will double-up on RoyE? Does losing Owens mean defenses will put an extra guy in the box?

Running the ball is a good thing, especially in the month of december when the weather changes. More meat and potatoes and less flash.

If teams are able to shut RW down with 1 receiver, we will be a 5-11 team whether we run the ball or not.

The Cowboys got into the playoffs with Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick as starters - running the Parcells version of Ground Chuck.

Romo and the three headed RB have a decent chance, with or without Owens.

I don't think we will be a run-first team but just a lot more balanced.

Cutting Owens actually gives us MORE options because no one will be afraid to NOT throw it to him. We can throw to the backs or run a screen or Romo could go through his progression and find the open guy instead of looking for Owens.

Hope they do. Witten will be running free all over. So will Bennett. Miles Austin can clearly get open and beat people deep too.

Running game and Garrett clearly are oil & water! He'll still have Romo chucking the ball around w/ 7 step drops, getting him killed in the process! I think you guys are being naive if you think Owens was the reason JG called games like he did. I hope he learned from last year and will utilize our 3-headed beast in the backfield more often but history isn't pointing in that direction...

Deep balls to Miles Austin & Felix Jones outlet passes should loosen things up nicely.

Our running game wasn't all that great even with TO here it won't get much better without him just cause we want it too :banghead:

We'll see I suppose.

Tashard Choice ran the ball pretty damn good in December, and that was the best defenses in the league we faced.

Adams needs to be healthy, we hopefully wont have a revolving door at LG.

We have 3 really really good RB's. We're going to be a good running team.

It can improve if they put the time and attention to the running game. You are right it will not improve because they want it too you have to work at it. Dallas does have talent in the backfield and we have to find a way to use that talent.

if we had run oriented coaches i could see it happening but wade and Garrett come on, with the relaxed atmosphere Wade creates i don't see this team working hard for anything they can't even line up half the time without taking a penalty

I think you under estimate both coaches. Wade Phillips has been around many great running teams as had Garrett both in Dallas and in NY so this ideal that they are opposed to the running game I disagree. I'm sure many angry fans can't see anything but negative and nothing anyone says is going to change that it will be up to this team to prove it.

I think this means we'll run a bit more, and use all three backs a bit more effectively, but I still think we're going to throw the ball a fair amount. Roy can do things, he's proven that while playing on crappy teams in Detriot, and we still have this dude named Jason Witten. I don't know if anyone has heard of him but he's pretty good.

Witten and Bennett's number should sky rocket

We have 3 solid RB's and playmakers at QB and TE. Heck, the Ravens made it deep last year with less talent at all 3 of those positions.

Pay Ware his money, then solidify the OL and DL through the draft. The game is won in the trenches.

Felix Jones will be a big part of the offense. He is explosive and will be used in routes regularly. Choice will split carries with Marion and Felix will be used as a hybrid.:starspin

I agree I don't think losing Owens puts us at the bottom. I think we will have to do a better job of running a more balanced offense and spread the ball around more that does not have to be bad thing. Even if had Owens not been released I still think that was something this team needed to do. Owens being the focal point of the offense was not working

Correction two playmakers at TE
