But........ since we didn't do anything of note in Free Agency....
Whatever.

One man's opinion. But look at the tape, and how often he throws to his first read. Again, not saying he's not capable of it, but he just has not shown it much.
The question is how long before he can apply this skill to the NFL.Um, this has been explained many times. Wentz *appears* to lock onto his first read sometimes because most of his reads are determined pre-snap. He excels at reading the defense and knowing which receiver should be open -- even if that receiver is not the primary receiver on the play.
It's GIF not JIF

"When I saw him at his Pro Day," Mayock said. "I asked him about a play against South Dakota State where I said 'you gave a hard count, you saw a linebacker cross-blitz, you stopped everything and you checked into a quarterback counter, which you ran 27-yards for a touchdown. Is what I saw on the tape correct?' He looked at me, very respectfully and said; 'Actually, Mr. Mayock, that was against Weber State. All these QBs are projects and need developing. Lynch could be the best in the group when it's said and done

"I thought that was great because he had instant recognition of the play I was talking about, what game it was from, he corrected me respectfully and then he walked through the play and told me exactly what he saw and what he did and why.
"When you contrast that to say, Paxton Lynch, and I'm not taking any shots at Paxton Lynch, because I like him, too. Paxton Lynch has a great physical skill-set, but they didn't ask him to do any of that at Memphis. He's never been in a huddle. He's never called a play. He's never checked it and he doesn't have to do the protections. So, there's a whole different starting point for Paxton Lynch than there is for Carson Wentz."

Don't see the need in drafting any of these guys with the 4th pick.
If the team is dead-set on taking a QB in the first, then I'd rather them trade back a few spots, acquire more picks, and grab Paxton Lynch.
If they decide to pass on the "top 3", then grabbing a guy like Cardale Jones in the 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be bad either.
It means some need more developing than others. And that means? Doesn't stop the fact that all these QBs need developing?
Cardale Jones in the 2nd round?! I think most of us would be furious wasting the 34th pick on him! Now a 5th or 6th rounder would be more like it. Having said that if the Cowboys don't draft Goff, Wentz, or Lynch I hope they don't draft one at all.
