This is one prospect that should be really interesting to follow. I mean, there are people wanting sell to the farm for him.
If he's doesn't end up being regular Pro-Bowler, taking him 4th or especially higher is a very clear and incredibly costlymiss.
But maybe he'll end up great.
We'll see.

I have said from day one that I want a QB only if they believe he can be the furlture of the team. He has everything that can make him a franchise QB after a couple years behind Romo. I am not stuck on Wentz. Goff or Lynch could be the right pick. I don't care. I just want the QB position addressed if the player is rated high enough . The comment that the asst coach make at the Senior Bowl to Garret is very telling . When Wentz walked in , the asst told Garret that there is your man. That comment gives away what QB that they like so far.

One man's opinion. But look at the tape, and how often he throws to his first read. Again, not saying he's not capable of it, but he just has not shown it much.

If your first read is open, you are supposed to throw it to him.

Almost everyone says that Goff is the most ready to play today. A great number of those think he is close to his ceiling though. Wentz may be slightly behind him now, but they feel he has the overall skill to be better when it comes time for him to play. Lynch is considered to be further behind both right now but ultimately some feel he has the most upside but also has the most bust possibility.

AdamJT13's explanation is great and it does explain why it might appear he is going to his first read exclusively. Remember how he wowed Gruden with his ability to read the defense, explain protections, etc and calls him the most ready QB in the past few years. While Gruden is prone to hyperbole, he clearly seems really impressed with Wentz.

Wentz is simply behind Goff in QB development just like the rest of the field, he could end up being good or the best of the 2016 class, just as about 6-8 other QBs. Or falling flat on his face.

The truth is nobody knows for sure who will be the man in three years and if somebody tells you for certain Wentz will, they are the lying through their teeth and/or with tongue in cheek.

Right now there is no question, Jared Goff represents the valued QB today and for the coming season, it's not even close.

Um, this has been explained many times. Wentz *appears* to lock onto his first read sometimes because most of his reads are determined pre-snap. He excels at reading the defense and knowing which receiver should be open -- even if that receiver is not the primary receiver on the play.
The question is how long before he can apply this skill to the NFL.

I'd be slap-happy with either QB.

Part of me thought this thread was gonna be "Wentz......I just don't get it......why would anyone not want him," but I guess not

All of this over analyzing is just mind numbing. They all have the tools to be a good QB. What your looking for is the "IT" factor. Montanna, Romo or Brady wouldn't wow you with their physical abilities but they had "IT". Goff, WentZ or Lynch have the tools but you have to find the most important ingredient.

All these QBs are projects and need developing. Lynch could be the best in the group when it's said and done
"When I saw him at his Pro Day," Mayock said. "I asked him about a play against South Dakota State where I said 'you gave a hard count, you saw a linebacker cross-blitz, you stopped everything and you checked into a quarterback counter, which you ran 27-yards for a touchdown. Is what I saw on the tape correct?' He looked at me, very respectfully and said; 'Actually, Mr. Mayock, that was against Weber State.

"I thought that was great because he had instant recognition of the play I was talking about, what game it was from, he corrected me respectfully and then he walked through the play and told me exactly what he saw and what he did and why.

"When you contrast that to say, Paxton Lynch, and I'm not taking any shots at Paxton Lynch, because I like him, too. Paxton Lynch has a great physical skill-set, but they didn't ask him to do any of that at Memphis. He's never been in a huddle. He's never called a play. He's never checked it and he doesn't have to do the protections. So, there's a whole different starting point for Paxton Lynch than there is for Carson Wentz."

Don't see the need in drafting any of these guys with the 4th pick.

If the team is dead-set on taking a QB in the first, then I'd rather them trade back a few spots, acquire more picks, and grab Paxton Lynch.

If they decide to pass on the "top 3", then grabbing a guy like Cardale Jones in the 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be bad either.

And that means? Doesn't stop the fact that all these QBs need developing. Lynch has the most upside and sitting behind Romo will be great for him.

I drive truck and think I'm very good but just because I can't recall what sign or building I went past 3 months ago doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing.

The hype is out of control

Cardale Jones in the 2nd round?! I think most of us would be furious wasting the 34th pick on him! Now a 5th or 6th rounder would be more like it. Having said that if the Cowboys don't draft Goff, Wentz, or Lynch I hope they don't draft one at all.

Holy crap, Jones in the second?
