This is a bit confusing coz something isn't adding up.........timing, sequence, play design??????

I mean MM says Kellen wanted to light up the scoreboard, he wanna rub the ball........

The team could not run the ball after Steele got injured. Zeke averaged like 2 yards a carry at the end of the season and Pollard slowed down. The Cowboys don’t have to go back to the 90s but they need to run the football better then they have the last two seasons. The Cowboys are looking at the Eagles and the 49ers who run the ball against everyone.

The quarterbacks inaccuracies under pressure were what kept this team from advancing Running game could not change that. Good defenses will cause us grief until our QB can and will throw early to tight covered receivers. This is what separates good college QBs from the few who make pros . Dak is what his scouting report says he is .

All of that. KM called a lot of 1st down runs that was up the middle or a zone right or left...easy for a defense to read. Having better play design will help present more for the defense to think about/prepare for.

The other issue was KM reverses and trick plays on 2nd and long, which, resulted in more loss of yards.

Lastly, having healthy explosive RBs carrying the ball will help add more to the run game. Play action should really help the open up the passing game.

I suppose it's the adage that you pound the middle to earn the right to run out wide. Tire the Defense and allow spaces to develop outside later on in the game....though yes a bit of mixing it up (like the successful Dak scrambles) and throwing on 1st down would benefit all round.

I don't really feel bad for Zeke if we move on from him. Pollard, it will depend on the doctors. The injury was unfortunate. Obviously, he was the better RB. Keep drafting fast RBs that can read a gap and have a couple moves in the open field. Focus on the big boys up front. Keep adding them.

Funny how only a coward places blame on someone no longer in the organization but that shows you the lack of character of fat lying Mike as he came into this organization with a lie.....so he is the perfect HC as Jerry has been lying to fans for years now.

They couldn’t run the ball down the stretch the last two seasons, even in light boxes. Changing the scheme was important as is the personnel.

I believe Jerry and son think you have to win like they did in the 90s. They also think that being a running team is what the fans will galvanize around (and spend for). This is what makes an already running team’s coach say something so stupid as we need to not light up the scoreboard and run it to help the defense.

Werder’s numbers are what we already knew. So does the coach and owners.

Most fans will twist themselves into pretzels to show that yes, they did run it heavily and well, but just not quite the right way. Whatever.

Question: since coach Mac’s history doesn’t match what he is stating about running the ball more, then who do you think is influencing or even dictating this revelation to pound the rock even more?

I appreciate your post but disagree with the implication. They run it well. All teams that run it well also have spots where they the run game bogs down and they need to have success in passing game. I think that’s where they failed in crunch time.

I don’t think they will change scheme. Do you? I think it’s more lip service and blame game at work here but I hope I’m wrong. Do you expect change or just hope for it? Would love to hear your answer on that.

The disconnect I believe is not the % of run pass. It’s when to run and when to pass. When to take shots when not to take shots. Everyone keeps harping on mccarthys “I wanna run the damn ball” comment but to me it’s just him speaking to a bigger issue about getting better situationally.

In the divisional game it was 6-6 with 1:30 left in the half. We were on their 20. 2&2. We get the ball at halftime- dak throws a terrible interception that completely changes the game. It’s those little things like that that McCarthy is trying to guard against. Down and distance, game situations and saving dak from himself.
