Werder: Source: Dunta Robinson likely out

Big loss for the chiefs if he doesn't go, may be the best No. 3 corner in the league

My mother was hit by a car Wednesday, so I absolutely feel for Dunta.

Always liked him with the Texans. He may be missed as a player, but his absence and the reason for it, will be a rallying cry for the Chiefs defense. I don't expect a drop-off.

I am very sorry for his loss but confused.

I have read where some players play even with a wife in the hospital in labor but he's not playing because his cousin is on life support.

Is this up to each team? The coaches? Owner?

I am not saying he is wrong to take off the game due to this but just confused.

I hope your mom is ok. So very sorry.

Why does that matter?

I would think the organization gives the player the opportunity to make the decision in these situations and sticks by them, as they should.

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Dunta Robinson is not expecting to play in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, a source close to the veteran told ESPN.
Robinson, who has not yet officially been ruled out, missed practice all week after Chiefs coach Andy Reid excused him to attend to an undisclosed family matter.
According to the source, Robinson rushed home to be with a first cousin, who has lapsed into a coma and requires the assistance of a breathing machine after being struck by a vehicle.

How is wife in labor comparable to cousin in coma? One is a common occurrence in human life and the other is a devastating, emotional loss. Bringing life is a lot easier than having it taken away, especially suddenly to the unexpected..

It was merely a question. I'm not judging him one way or the other as I stated.

Again I am NOT judging him. It was just a question. Good Lord!

I'm sure the team leaves it up to the individual. Some people are close to their cousins while others are not.

Brett Favre played after his father passed away and other won't play in situations like that.

What I take away from it is that Robinson must've been close to this particular family member and wants to be with him in case the worst occurs.

I'm sure the team gives him their blessings.

Very sad situation and family should always come first. At least the Chiefs had practice time this week without him to get the backups ready.

You're probably right. Just wondering.

I did not know that about Brett Favre.

Probably the player.

Prayers to the family, to question the choice of family over football/work is a personal one and not one I wish to judge.

Horrible.

Last year a girl in my area died being struck by a car as she crossed the street to go to school. I had just finished reading where an analyst's wife was struck by a vehicle. Never realized how often these things seem to occur.

I love this game and all but my prayers are with Dunta and his family. I always liked him and always thought of him as a class act.
