Ed Werder reported that he surveyed five teams after the 1st round about their grades on Frederick. The grades were a 4th, a 5th, a 5th, a 6th, and a borderline 6th/7th. I will now attempt to drown myself.

If you believe that load of manure from him....well you had your own idea so I am not suggesting it. :laugh2:

That's just dumb, no way in hell is that true unless he specifically asked true zone blocking teams only.

I would say watch where Brian Schwenke and barrett Jones goes in this draft, they are the other two centers that rate in the same area as Fredricks. If they both go in the third round, Fredrick was a huge reach..

I call crap but even if it isn't, would a reporter ask any other team about grades for players taken by a team not called the Cowboys?

Ed Werder would!

And, if that is true, I would not put it past him, he loves to start crap!

Why would he lie? This was tweeted last night as I said in another thread

Text from one AFC personnel man when I told him the Cowboys took Frederick: “Yuck”.

I'm not sure where the perception was that the kids was an automatic high second rounder. But we do need serious help so hope he shuts them up

So this is a lie but the mock drafts you listed are gospel?

I will never fuss about a pick until he proves to be a failure but Jerry messed this up. he could have easily gotten Sylvester Williams or Floyd and then traded up from the second to get Frederick. That would have been a much smarter move.

Well, we know he could have stayed at 18 - right?

So, would it be that hard to move up in the second? You tell me genius!

That's a good point. Unless they didn't want to miss on a good C and didn't like Sly that much. Not sure I would agree with their assessment but I do understand wanting to anchor the middle of the interior OL. Or maybe they like Costa or Costa beats him out this year but he ends up at RG and competes/backs up at C.

Why would I put you on ignore when 90% of the time you are quoting me?

It just cost a 4th rounder to move up 7 spots in the second. So assuming that Frederick did not go from pick 30-40 which is an assumption, I understand that, then the Cowboys could have very well gotten two picks in the top 40 and it would have only cost them a 4th.

I think this is a viable scenario. Not sure they wanted to take a chance though. If you get enough G competition and a decent starter there then you may get enough to push the O over the top. All we need is to score 3-7 more a game and give up 3+ to likely do well.
