We're looking unlucky so far in this great D draft

This supposed really strong defensive draft is getting diluted day-by-day... Sidney Jones, Fabian Moreau, Takk McKinley, Caleb Brantley, Reuben Foster, Jabril Peppers, Gareon Conley. Why couldn't it be offensive players getting hurt and doing stupid things?

I think it plays well for us.

With so many questions on the above..

that means some top talent falls to us.

When the defensive players are drafted..

I suspect offensive players will move to the end of the draft.

We could easily be the beneficiary.

A top WR or OL or TE if that is what is available should be taken.

If not..

trade the pick and move on to the second rd.

Conley and Brantley are the only two that may see a major drop in their stock. Even Jones with his Achilles injury has been rumored to get snatched up in Rd 2 by a team willing to stash him for a year.

Still pretty decent deep draft left. It does alter things, but there are quite a few players we could take with or without those injuries, concerns.
Still prefer a slight trade down. But according to Jerry they want to stay put in this draft.
Jerry speak? Maybe. But can't go wrong by doing just that.

NE is a good bet for this.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. It take a chance on a lot of these guys in the third round or later. Picks 1 and 2 have to be starters and contributors though.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Sure seems to be setting up that way with the DBs. Either they are falling down injured or getting popped for drugs or accused of a crime.

Makes it all the more ripe to reach for a "cleaner" prospect if that is the new way to go.

That is a theoretical viewpoint though.

Most teams have GMs that are drafting for their jobs. Drafting and stashing a player for a year is a luxury. Either you have time and a patient owner and some winning season collateral behind you to shield you from criticism or you simply have a surplus of picks where burning one on a dud is not going to be graded as harshly.

There are a select number of teams that really can be that open to thinking about it like that. Dallas is one of them because the GM isn't getting fired, which is a good and a bad thing at the same time. There are others like Cleveland or Tennessee who collect picks like bubble gum cards.

This is my point. We are not drafting redshirt guys this year. So injuries to Jones, Moreau, Takk and Conley's accusation hurt us. Means they other CBs and DEs will not make it to us at 28 because these 4 would've gone above us.

I am beginning to think a trade down will happen. We are already at a point in the 1st rd where we will be basically drafting second round talent. Now of course you need a partner to trade down and one might not show up.

What if they all drop and Jerry swoops in with a La'el Collins type move? Will you carry him around on a throne then?

We trade back.

...and then a team like Cleveland turns around and puts those bubble gum rookie cards in their bicycle spokes to make noise.

Some people cried on draft day when there was a run on OL and Cooper and Warmack were taken sooner than expected. It was all doom and gloom and the front office further torqued those crying people off by passing on DL Sharif, getting absolutely robbed (supposedly) in a trade down with SF, and taking some guy the crybabies never heard of. Well, say hello to the best player in that draft, Frederick. Funny how things work out sometimes.

No need to get fancy or panic in this draft. Just follow your board for the most part, and your gut sometimes.
