Good day folks! 14 years of posting and dealing with the Lions via the internet with many of you has been fun but my ride has run out of gas. Take care of yourselves and I hope for all of you that have stuck it out longer than I, that you one day find that elusive Pot O’ Gold with this franchise that so sadly eluded my patience.
Top Ten Reasons I Quit Being A Lions Fan In 2007:
10) Even I had to admit (inside joke) that a 20 year plan (when I became a full time Detroit Lions fan) is too long
9) Whenever a 6 and 2 team record is mixed with oxygen, the Detroit Lions somehow manage to die a slow death from asphyxiation. No, you’re right. Scientifically, it just doesn’t make any sense. Yet the Detroit Lions somehow manage to pull together to be just as stubborn as their coaching staffs are in the fact they must prove they are not subject to basic rules.
8 ) An NFL team can never and will never be built via the wide receiver position
7) Defense wins championships. I don’t care what others think. I enjoy watching a quality D player pummel an O player way more than seeing video game scoring. Give me a solid D effort on game day and I can live with other shortcomings.
6) I’m sick and tired of inept head coach choices by the inept GM. The latest incantation is just too much for me to take serious. The gimping, grimacing, often over matched and all too often muttering along the sideline first time HC sucks. I suggest he go back to being a no named D line coach. He is clearly best suited for such an anonymous career. I saw enough tape after 20 games of how his type of team will play under the gun. This experiment has earned a big F. Unfortunately for this coach, there is no option for credit only.
5) I’m tired and sick of the national ridicule. I can live with the regional ridicule but the national attention is just too much given the fact that I don’t really have any physical tie to the team or its locale.
4) Watching your favorite NFL team is supposed to be fun (at least sometimes)
3) Just once I would have liked to have seen the Detroit Lions ID, draft and bring to the forefront an NFL star QB.
2) The teams inept GM.
Yes you MILLIOT! You fraud of an NFL executive. You have zero integrity for not resigning your position as GM (Glorified Misfit) over 6 seasons ago. You are a white collar thief for getting paid even $1 to do as little as you do in as far as your job description prescribes as minimum qualification.
You sir, are the face of a team that is without doubt the definition of NFL FUTILITY in a well documented era of league engineered parity.
You are the biggest reason for pile driving my once unfettered passion for anything Detroit Lions related into a wet shallow grave. I don’t know you as a person, but from afar I can certainly state with full confidence that you sir, have zero integrity as an NFL exec for not doing the right thing for the organization. Yes, that right thing you’ve known should have been done years ago but were too stubborn to do. If you don’t resign by years end, I will not only have to live with calling you the worst pro sport executive I have ever had to endure in my lifetime but could then (with 100% confidence) question your overall integrity as a human being.
Is that low enough?
Sad thing is, its not even close to as low as my expectations are of him (MILLIOT) ever doing the right thing while continuing to steal from his asleep at the wheel employer and worst of all, the life blood of the team, its fan base.
1) I am currently too busy enjoying life to waste anymore of my energy thinking about this sorry franchise.
