Right or wrong we've painted ourselves into a corner at corner. Make no mistake, Dallas will not and cannot trade up for DMAC now.

Dallas has to take a CB at 22 or 28 and should spend 2 out of thier 1st 4 picks on CB. This league is a pass happy league. Greenbay and the patriots will go 4 and 5 wide. The Giants and Eagles will or do have the ability to expose our lack of CB depth.

We have one top tier CB and a good but often injured CB. We MUST HAVE a solid number 3 and need a 4th for when Henry or Newman go down for a strecth and we know they will.

I don't want to hear about Alan Ball, he couldn't get playing time over Nate Jones and Oglesby is only a special teams guy.

I wanted to do this anyway, but I thought we might make a play for a 2nd or 3rd tier vet. We didn't so now we must (and rightfully so) spend 2 picks on CB in the 1st three rounds.

If we are still looking for vet depth there will be some viable options when the 2nd wave of FA hits that should come at a reasonable price and still allow us to draft 1 or 2 corners early if the opportunity presents itself.

Andre Dyson has great ball skills but lacks in size and is not great in run support. As a 3rd or 4th option he would fit perfect in Dallas

Brian Kelly is reaching the end of his career and there is questions if he can produce outside of the Tampa two but again, he has great ball skills and is solid in run support.

Ty Law is up there in age but is still producing. If he can get over the fact he no longer should demand the huge payday he would be a perfect fit in Dallas.

Fernando Bryant is a servicable corner with great speed and does not give up many big plays. He's a smart corner that reads the offense very well. Lacks the ideal size but if he could stay healthy he could be a solid #2 for most teams in the NFL

Any of those guys could come at the right price and provide some much needed help.

Stop panicking. Plenty of time before TC begins for a vet CB (Aaron Glenn-type CB) to become available. Got no problem drafting 2 CBs in the first 3 rounds hopefully we got quality rookie at #22.

But but I want a WR if good one available at #28 because that also a big need. Our offense must function at a high level and if TO gets hurt we are screwed. Rookie WRs don't contribute much in first season but hope Ray Sherman/Jason Garrett can work some magic there. Maybe Austin or Stanbach can step it up. If we don't sign Walker, maybe another vet WR also becomes available later who can help us if only this season.

If we had the cap money signing Moss would be a kick but doubt he & TO survive very long in the lockerroom; besides the 2 of them will probably drive Romo to use meds to calm his nerves.

BTW: Last year Wade Phillips moved Courtney Brown from CB to FS. Can anyone recall why and is it possible Brown could return to that position?

Um, it's been less than 72 hours. We still can.

Don't you know free agency is only 2 days? If a team doesn't sign all of the FA's they can they are screwed. /sarcasm

This is all due to us letting Reeves go?

With or without Reeves we needed another CB or two. I think there's a good chance we take one in the first and likely get another in the middle of the draft.

This is one great post. it's right on the money.this secondary is in trouble. Jerry should have made a move on a FA corner. he blew it.

OK, 1st step off the ledge my man, along with the solid vets that were listed above, still got my favorite 3rd tier guy in Eugene Wilson out there. I haven't heard any news on him. Plus some other guys will get cut along the way.

Even b4 we lost Reeves, I've been all for picking 2 CB's within those 1st 4 picks, I'm for picking up 2 in the 1st round if the right 2 r there. U might not want to hear it, but I think that the coaching staff has confidence in Ball and Brown. I don't think they much cared about losing Reeves. Ball might not have been able to beat out Jones last year, but a year in the weight room is what everyone said he needed.

You need cap room to make a deal and we don't have it.

Maybe not but if he lives up to the hype we would be almost way to much to handle offensively for any team.

I'm not panicking at all, I want too draft 2 CB's in the 1st 3 rounds. By Dallas not making any noise for the likes of Gay, all I am saying is that this now forces us to do what I wanted IMO. Now I think this was planned from the get go by the Cowboys. If we wanted some of the guys mentioned we'd have kept Reeves. Dyson is the only one I'd consider.

I'm just giving my opinion on what events might lead too and should be pointing to in my opinion. The title of my post doesn't reflect to tone of the post, I think some of you missed that.

This is a damn good team, but it must have secondary help and it could use some more speed added to the offense.

If we as fans know the team is hurting at cb, then I feel confindent that Mr. Jones has a plan.

How is this secondary in trouble?

We just shored up our pass defense by getting Zach Thomas. While people may look to our 3rd corner as the reason our secondary was bad, part of the responsibility lies on the LBs, including AKin and Roy, the latter when he played the position. Zach will also allow Wade to get more aggressive up-front, which will boost the play of the secondary.

Further, the class for CBs this year are deep, into at least the second round.

I would still love for the Commanders to let Shawn Springs go. He'd be a great 3rd CB. I would still want to draft a CB in round 1.

I could go for Springs, but I'm like you still need to draft 1 in the first and I'd like another one anyway.... We have the roster room. Assuming the Rooks would play on special teams.
