Springs would be great. Throw in Dunn and Zach and we're on our way to recreating the 2000 Pro Bowl.

I would still love for the Commanders to let Shawn Springs go. He'd be a great 3rd CB. I would still want to draft a CB in round 1.

Hos, I wanted Springs as well, but it looks like the Commanders found a way to keep him.

What do you think of Dyson?

I think he lacks the strength and durability to be a #1 cornerback, but I think his size, speed and ball-skills would make for an ideal #3.

Don't know on Dyson honestly. I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't be all giddy about it either.

Springs would make me giddy. I've always liked him and just think he needs to be home near his Dad at this juncture.

That was kind of funny, but Springs wasn't a Pro Bowler in 2000.

It fell flat for me since Thomas has gone to the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006 pro bowls.

Springs by the way did play in the 1998 probowl.

I could definitely appreciate what Bach was saying. I disagree with him a bit though. I think this team could use some veteran voices like Zach Thomas, Warrick Dunn, and Shawn Springs. All are very respected for their work ethics. Dunn is a credit to any community he lives in. Are they my ideal signings? Of course not.

I really like the Zach Thomas signing. He was cheap and he will be a great example.

Given my choice I'd address RB in the Draft not Free Agency.

Given my choice I'd trade for Roy Williams of Detroit, not us a day 1 pick on a WR.

My choices rarely matter in the grand scheme of things though. If they did Barber would be backing up Stephen Jackson.

While I too think we need some success on the team to help guide the bulk of the team to playoff success as well as December success, I don't think we have the room to take too many on. Thomas is ideal and will upgrade the defense for at least a year.

Dunn would help the offense. My questions of him are is it enough? He can't play special teams which need to be upgraded. He isn't a power runner which this team needs. Yes, Barber is tough but he isn't a back like Brandon Jacobs who is punishing. And Dunn is at the end which takes away a roster spot from a player who could become a long term starter. Dunn isn't an easy call because he will be productive. I do wonder if he could return punts.

And signing Dunn may take a spot away from getting another CB which ties into the thread.

I would be happy with Dunn on the team though.

I wanted to do this anyway, but I thought we might make a play for a 2nd or 3rd tier vet. We didn't so now we must (and rightfully so) spend 2 picks on CB in the 1st three rounds.

We were going to do that regardless of what tired and worn out 2nd or 3rd tier veteran we signed.

Nothing has changed in regards to the position.

In fact, I am happy we rid ourselves of Reeves. That alone is a positive step.

none of the corners that were free agents really excited me so us not picking them up isn't a loss IMO. People saying you need a 3rd corner idk about all that some teams don't even have a solid number 1 and still do fine. I think a good pash rush is what is really lacking put seems to be overlooked because of what Ellis and ware was doing. If we can improve the pressure we put on a QB then our coverage will improve.

Right or wrong we've painted ourselves into a corner at corner. Make no mistake, Dallas will not and cannot trade up for DMAC now.

Dallas has to take a CB at 22 or 28 and should spend 2 out of thier 1st 4 picks on CB. This league is a pass happy league. Greenbay and the patriots will go 4 and 5 wide. The Giants and Eagles will or do have the ability to expose our lack of CB depth.

We have one top tier CB and a good but often injured CB. We MUST HAVE a solid number 3 and need a 4th for when Henry or Newman go down for a strecth and we know they will.

I don't want to hear about Alan Ball, he couldn't get playing time over Nate Jones and Oglesby is only a special teams guy.

I wanted to do this anyway, but I thought we might make a play for a 2nd or 3rd tier vet. We didn't so now we must (and rightfully so) spend 2 picks on CB in the 1st three rounds.

Sooooooo....you think it absolutely requires a first round talent at CB in order to adequately replace what we lost in Reeves? If that's the case, then we should have just resigned him.

I actually think we can replace Reeves adequately with a CB taken in rounds 1-4....or even with another castoff....we may even have someone on the Roster whom we think can step in for Reeves. I too think we'll take a CB in round 1 or 2, but there's no reason to get desperate because we let Reeves walk.

No the 1st rd pick is to eventually replace Henry and upgrade the 3rd cb spot

I've never seen so much panic over CB's. Anyone remember who our two starting CB's were before we drafted TNew and signed Henry?

We've still got two above average starters, and we've got plenty of time.

Does anyone remember the score of the playoff game we lost to the Giants? As I remember it, we should be much more anxious for some WOW help on offense than we are on defense...a better 3rd CB wasn't going to win that game for us...we only scored 17 points!!!!!!

I think we will draft a first round CB this year, but if we waited for rounds 2 or 3, I really wouldn't care...I just want another great player on offense, whether it's a WR or RB.

I want to improve on last yr, and prepare for Henry's replacement, if we use a 1st round choice we have better odd's of getting the right guy to do both. So do I "absolutely" think it requires a number 1 pick? No, but I would feel better if we used one 1st and then a 3rd or 4th.

What do you not understand about the fact that at this point we have 2 CB's out of the 4 that played significant snaps last yr.

Do I want a young WR? Hell yes, do we need one? Probably not.

Would a good young WR or a good young CB get on the field more? We have young potential and talent at WR. We don't have that at CB.

No Reeves = what? No more 10yd cushion on a 3-n-8? No more #35 being in perfect position and NOT making a play on the ball? No more hearing about his great "speed" that never seemed to translate to good man coverage?

Yeah, he'll be missed!! :sarcasm:
