We've only drafted 3 QB's since 1991?

In retrospect, had Jerry the Genius not given up those first rounders for Joey Gagoway, our first round pick could have been used to pick up Drew Brees ... instead of taking QC in the 2nd.

Now imagine that ...

Jeez. How do you even get out of bed in the morning?

It's so funny how we fight to prove why Romo is great, yet he won't prove it on the field by winning playoff games and Super Bowls. He can end this argument.

I would love to see the reaction should Dallas use a 1st or 2nd to get a QB in this draft. :laugh2:

Many of you would be hollering from the roof tops of we need OL or we need DL. Only problem I see are spoiled brats who complain constantly and it is the same people day after day.

I actually wanted Dalton in the 2nd a couple of years ago to groom behind Romo. He obviously didn't last to when we picked, but he was who I wanted.

We do need to start planning ahead for Romo's eventual retirement or drop off. That's nothing against Romo, but a young quarterback would be cheaper and would offer more hope for the long term future.

We won't be drafting any QB's until Romo calls it quits ... probably from an Aikman-esque hit.

We'll be unprepared as usual. Then we'll trade top draft picks for a WR, and be forced to draft a 7th round QB in the 2nd round.

and I would not argue against it I would think within the next 2 years the Cowboys will do so. Only way I see a young QB drafted this year is if someone they really likes slides to the middle of the draft. Outside of that I think they will focus on areas that are of need which looks to be the strength of this draft.

It's not ridiculous in Jerry's world. it's all ways about the now with him. the hell with what happens down the line to his team. it's all about now.so he holds on to the same rag tag team and gets for the most part the same results every year.

You still here? Aren't you the guy who's telling people...

"Good luck with the 8 and 8, and no championship Romo years." ???

I figured you would've moved on to bigger and better things by now. OH, I get it. You're going to hang around here and complain about everything until the season starts, wait to see which teams start off hot and THEN you're going to decide which team you're going to bandwagon jump.

There is obviously a shortage of qualified QB's in this league. It has paid off for several teams to always have a developmental project in the works. If you're FO is good at it, you can always have a backup that also serves as an investment project.

Then when another team gets desperate, you offer him up for a first or second pick and then start over again. You have 2nd and 3rd QB's that have 1 or 2 good games as backups along with some physical skills, someone will come calling sooner or later.

This has really worked for one guy: Ron Wolf.

And again that was because he set up an organization around that philosophy.

They had amazing coaching on the offensive side of the ball and taught a qb friendly offense.

The entire organization existed to develop and promote QBs.

PLENTY of other teams have just wasted draft picks on guys that couldn't make the team or on guys like Stephen McGee who just ate a roster spot for sitting on the pine.

Back up QBs require time and effort during the season that many teams do not have to give.

When you need a QB you go get one regardless the cost. But stockpiling them with the hope of greater rewards later is fools gold. There is a very thin line between what you can get for Kevin Kolb today and what you can tomorrow.

I'm of the view that a team should always try to draft a good offensive lineman, a good pass rusher, and a good defensive back in every single draft if possible.

And perhaps every 2-3 drafts or so, draft a good QB and WR.

Fool's gold? I don't think so. You have to have a back up QB. It's a fact of life in the NFL.

IF, and I know that is a big if, you have scouts, coaches and GM's all on the same page, you could make it pay off for you...and possibly snag a Brady in the forth once in awhile as well.
