49ers, Tenn., NO, Texans, Skins (twice), Az, Philly (twice) and the Colts. We are 6-4 against 34 teams this season, thus far.

Honestly, the only team that I feel as if we really got beat by was Philly the 1st time around.

49ers, Romo was not ready.
Skins, Romo was injured and I honestly believe we win that game if Weeden finishes.
Az, Romo was out for that game.

It's going to be very interesting to see how Green Bay plays us defensively. They can go 34 or 43 with the personnel they have on their base D. Often, they line up in a 34 set and shift into a 43. Aside from the weather, this is really my biggest concern. How will our young OL react to what Capers throws at them? We are very, very good when we can understand what a team is doing to us and how to execute against what the Defense is doing but we have problems when we don't understand what we are seeing. This is why we've gotten behind in games and managed to come back in the 2nd have. We have had issues, at times, understanding what Defenses were doing to us and made adjustments in the 2nd half to compensate. This OL is very, very good when they understand what they need to do. They go out and execute if they understand. Green Bay is going to try and take full advantage of this. We will need to do a very good job of getting our young OL ready for what they will see ahead of time because if we get down two or three scores in the 1st half against Green Bay, we will not be able to come back on them in the 2nd half. Their Offense is too good for that and they do have a running game that can close you out if they get ahead. Very key in this game to have good preparation.

Blitz pickup will be an issue in this game. They do a ton of creative stuff with Clay Mathews. We cant get caught trying to stay big on big and let them overload a gap.

i foresee a few 3 and outs to start the game or at least a similar start to the Lions game

once Romo and crew get a good feel for what they're doing i expect to see the scoreboard start lighting up.

i forgot where i saw it (post game presser maybe?) Romo was alluding to how it just took them time to get a feel for what Detroit was trying to do, but once they did it just became a lot easier

Hopefully we can establish the run and when we do pass Romo can't hold the ball all day. Get out of the pocket so throwing it away is an option.

Man, I sure hope not...unless somehow after all those 3 and outs our defense only gives up maybe 1 score.
I we get in a big hole on the road at GB, I don't at all like our chances.

We won't be able to get away with a slow start like that against GB though, that's the problem.

Spot on. We've got to be ready for the blitz.

With that said, it'll be interesting to see how Green Bay plays it. Do they blitz, even with us likely expecting it? Or, as Detroit did last week, do they come out with a new look that we're not expecting?

I think our record against 3-4 teams has more to do with the coincidence that in each of the 4 games we lost, Romo was not healthy for the entirety of the game, and it just happened to be 3-4 teams. The first Philadelphia game, he admitted to not taking the shot.

I do agree the offensive line needs to do a better job in blitz pickup. I think the key may be how successful we are with the run early, and our ability to stay out of obvious passing situations as much as possible.

The cards spent a ton of time in 4-3 looks during our game against them.

I agree with your sentiment - we have had the most trouble against teams who get after us early on defense.

They play games with Peppers and either Hawk or Matthews or both. Green Bay will line up in a 34 set and then bring Peppers up to the LOS and play him as the DE. They will use Hawk and Peppers to alternate or twist or they will overload with Matthews and send them all or use Peppers and Hawk and then delay to the other side with Matthews on the Blitz. They will also show 43 and then drop Peppers back into coverage using a zone blitz with the LBs. They do lots of creative stuff with their personnel. Peppers makes it all work because of his size.

Cold weather favors Dallas and it's running game over Green Bay's...the Dallas offensive line is better than theirs.

In an open game, the Dallas defense could also turn the Green Bay offense into more of a one dimension...dependent upon the pass. Add in a set at one point in a pocket, injured Rogers, an opportunistic Dallas defense could be amplified as well.

The Dallas offense is designed to adapt, and players such as the two backup tight ends and T Williams and Cole Beasley could well become highlighted targets also.

I for one wish we can get Dez the ball early and often. I know were probably gonna try and establish the run like we used to. However, maybe we try a new wrinkle and throw to him in short routes and force the defense to double him. When we do that we should start to run it. I don't think Green Bay is gonna load the box with 8 man. Not when they have to double up on Dez.

I think this offense has many options on what they should do. Green Bay is probably gonna bring the blitz early on to establish a lead. We'll have to prepare for it when it comes.

I'm not so sure about this. Green Bay has a much better running game then some might think. These last few games, they have really come on. In their last 6 games, Lacy has averaged just shy of 100 Yards a game and has a 5.05 YPC. He's a 240 lbs back and Sitton and Linsley are very good up the middle. That's going to be a tough matchup for our DTs. Bulaga, if healthy, is going to neutralize the LDE. Green Bay in cold weather could be a very effective running team against our D.

One either believes in the Cowboys offensive line, or not.

As to a direct comparison, the Dallas running game is still better than Green Bay's, whose offensive line isn't up to that of the Cowboys.

Personally I think Linehan is going to go run heavy on the first couple of drives to see if the packers can even handle it.

Yes but their line handled Detroits DL much better than the Dallas OL did. At this time of year stuff like that has little bearing on the game that is to be played Sunday.

I honestly don't understand why people don't believe in this O-line. Sure, they got jobbed by Suh, but everyone does. They'll get better going forward, and I'm not scared of this Green Bay team. This Cowboys team is built to compete with a star quarterback, which is EXACTLY what the Packers are.

Cowboys run game and OL are better, however, as ABQCowboy indicated, the delta isn't that big. Couple of points:
  • Packer's ran the ball for more yards and a higher average yards per carry than the Cowboys over the last 8 games of the season
  • All 5 of the Packers starting OL either received All-Pro votes or were named Pro-Bowlers or Pro-bowl alternates. While that doesn't equal the two first team All-Pros (and the 2nd teamer in Frederick) the Cowboys have the fact that all 5 Packers offensive linemen got recognition tells you that it's also a very good OL.

Suh is ONLY one of the four best defensive linemen of the past ten years...but on the flip-flop, Dallas has the 'flying squirrel,' Cole Beasley.
