I love smack talking, it makes it more fun plus it pushes the other guy to go to another level to shut him up.

I never understood why people were so against it. I guess the non-athletic types hate it cause they know nothing about putting your a** on the line on the field/court/track/ whatever sport of your choice.

Sometimes there can be a fine line between smack talk and talking trash. Crayton talked trash last season and it came back to bite him.

I don't have a problem with smack talk when you can back it up; if you can't you just look foolish. I don't want foolish tarnishing this team. Back it up!

The very next play he should have ran and stood right next to him and started yelling "I'm open, I'm open."

We will get better because our D and O play each other and they both are among the best in the league.

I am diggin this. The whole team offense and defense is vocal. It seems there is some intensity going on. This is good for Adam to be around as well as other young players. All these Pro-Bowl guys are showing their leadership skills.

I never understood how Bradie became the defacto leader of the defense all the sudden. Zach mentioned something about it being "Bradie and Roy's" defense a week or so ago, and I just don't get it. The guy is abhorrent in coverage and his his tackles are consistently overrated because:

A.) the rush is almost always funneled in his direction, B.) the linemen aren't making plays because they're eating blockers for the 'backers, and C.) the other linebackers on the roster all have alibis... Ellis and Ware are both pass-rushers and are released into pass coverage more, thereby limiting their ability to be in the vicinity for tackles... Akin was a veritable ghost at times, and the rest were youngsters who never got consistent playing time.

Bradie is a good, not great, tackler. He's bad in support, but he's vocal, so I guess that counts for something. If the guys look up to him, far be it from me to question the chemistry in the locker room. He seems to be a good, genuine dude who serves as glue for a room that can look like a who's who of the most dangerous presences to a team's psyche in the NFL right now. So if he's able to balance that and keep some of these guys like Tank and Pacman in line, I have no problem with starting him and keeping him happy. Just so long as nobody has any illusions about who's to blame when Kellen Winslow busts us for a 40-yard TD in Week 1 down the middle when the lethal Bradie-Roy duo breaks down in coverage.... again.

Those are the words Jason Witten yelled at linebacker Bradie James during a passing drill Monday afternoon.

Witten went right up the middle of the field, past James, to make a catch for what would have certainly been a big gain and maybe a touchdown.

Witten wants more from his defense.

Man this is getting me pumped for the season!!! I love me some competition...:D:starspin

Now we are talking. However, I won't necessary classify that as calling Bradie out; it is just trash talking, nothing more, nothing less.

The best part is the guys are having fun. Look at the Rangers. Their pitching still sucks, but their offensive guys are having a lot of fun. Fun breeds winning. The Rangers are six games over .500 in the second half of the season and have already won season series over the Yankess with two games left to play! (they are 4-1 against the Yankees this year with 2 games left to play)

Of course, because Witten is so beloved, its "he's such a great leader", which he may be...........

But had Bradie said to an offensive player "When are you going to get open?", then all we would hear on this board is how Bradie should shut up because he can't cover.

This was trash talking. Thats it.

If Bradie blanketed Witten, knocking away a catch and smack talked afterwards, I would be laughing and supportive. I have no problem with it on the field when you actually accomplish something. However, if he had allowed Witten to catch the ball, gain 20 when it should have been deflected/stopped after 5 yards and then started talking smack, it would be a completely different story. I guess for me it's knowing when to smack talk and when to shut your mouth.

Agree. Witten had a perfect right to say something to Bradie James; James didn't make the play & Witten wanted James to understand he's the man responsible for that.

Now I don't know what kind of relationship Witten & James have, but both were drafted in 2003 as was Terrance Newman; Romo was signed that year as an undrafted FA. Newman, Witten & Romo are close friends; it's not inconceivable that James could also be close with the trio.
